Getting Bored

I have been playing poker for several decades now but online for 6 or so years I am wondering if you guys get bored and call bad or hand you know you shouldn't call im pretty disciplined about folding and waiting for a good hand but I find I call hands I shouldn't or wouldn't playing live because im bored when playing poker on computer do you guys get that way too!!

What I have just started is a new challenge for myself. It may sound stupid to some but as a fresh graduate of university who doesn't have an endless bankroll, I have decided to try to take $20 and turn it into as much as a can in my spare time. This has become a fun challenge as I am entering into freerolls, playing at lower stakes and overall having a fun time playing poker instead of trying to grind and make real money. I don't know if you are trying to make a living off of poker but if you play for fun like myself, it is always fun to make money out of nothing

I like what YtM said. Do something to make it a goal. But I understand where you are coming from. I got so bored awhile back, I would not play 30 minutes. And I'm just now getting back into playing. I think what helped me the most is the fact that I had to sell my laptop to pay a bill. That was over a month ago, and it was a good break. Maybe you need a break, or find some things that can take up some of your time other than play poker, and when you sit down to play, you will enjoy it. Just don't let your BR go down the drain because you are bored. Remember, you are not the only one who goes through things like this. Post them and let us help you through it. I did that too, and believe me, it works.

Not bored exactly, but I do get tired of the game more often theses days as the excitment is no longer a rush on a daily basis.
I tend to taker longer breaks from the tables now.

I get bored if I play a long tournament. I use to like MTTs, but now I'm starting to like cash more. Cash you can leave whenever you want, but in deep stack tournaments you have to sit out and waste blinds/antes if you want to escape for a break.

If you get bored I wouldn't recommend playing. No reason to torture yourself sitting there in boredom when you could be doing other things. Usually when I'm bored though I just put on some music or play more tables so that there is less time in between hands. This way you don't have to sit there and wait for slow players to act on their hands.

I would say,not bored but distracted..yea. Especially when im playing MTT ,if im playing it i always find myslef in a spot where the TV is on,checking facebook ect.I dont know im doing this because im bored but i know for sure that if im not doing that i will spew my chips away.I mean when im doing multiple things my game is tighten up automatically

Sil3ntness, it's funny you say that, I'm the exact opposite. I find that cash games after a while bore the crap out of me because of the standard dynamic. It's too set in stone for me, I like a little more variance with MTT's because it's totally worth the venture of taking advantage in each table. Plus nowadays cash is getting too damn competitive, it's hard to get any slack cut out.

Yeah cash is boring when you're playing strictly ABC poker at the micro levels.

That's why I try to mainly play 50 NL - 200 NL full ring. I get to think more because people are not playing fit or fold at the higher stakes.

I have to agree, when you play poker the way we are supposed to, it can be a boring game when you are at home, by yourself, sitting in front of a computer. There is nothing sexy about grinding it out online, unless you go on a massive heater and catching everything you touch. Playing disciplined, patient poker is something that is very hard to do on a regular basis. I believe that getting bored in the middle of a grind session is another form of tilt. If this is happening on a regular basis, maybe you are grinding to much, and should take a couple days off from poker. Get refreshed, and come back to the felt strong.

Poker - mentally demanding game and you have to be in perfect condition during the game to analyze and think through each individual draw hands and make the most profitable decisions at the table.

Generally speaking, to make every session as profitable, you have to sit at the table in a sober mind and be completely focused on the game.

I never get bored but i do a lot of mistakes when i am playing more than ten hours.....with this game i know when my mind is working well or not...when my mind is not working i stop right away...i do something else(see a movie, tutorials,go for a walk...)

Wow yeah, that's true I never quite looked at it that way. I haven't played more than 25NL in a while, so it is not my field of expertise. As for MTT's I either bust early or go deep, and try to play different dynamics/ buyins to make things interesting for me

I dont know if im bored or just tired playing poker everyday 6-8 hours, but all want is need a break and find other things to do or go out with my friends and i will limit my no. Of days and time in playing poker ..

I have most of times this problem...but not when i play poker......just when i want to start playing my day....when i see the exacly things on the room poker , no interesting promotions...etc...and i am trying to find new room for playing ....even freerolls, but most of times i find "bugs" that don't become necesarry at my attention.
Remember that fulltilt before black friday made a lof of updates of the room services and that were verry competitive....love it a lot ....but after it was associated with stars, became boring....need new things to put me on high level of motivation

Yeah sometimes when im an hour in I will get bored. If I bought in for chunk change or is freeroll, then I will try different strategies out just to have some fun. But when you play big money tables, you never get bored, your constantly thinking and focusing making it that much more fun!

If u want help try talking to ur doctor about adhd meds because if u are losing money because of this they may help.
