dmorris68 said:And here's where I disagree and so you're not correct. I realize English isn't your first language and perhaps the nuances are different in your native language, but to make the statement to the effect of "poker is gambling" is the same as saying it's more gambling than not. In English at least, the term gambling is equated with games of chance. The general public, ignorant of poker, often does lump poker in with other gambling games like craps or blackjack. Poker players know better. To over-extend my goofy driving analogy, it would be like referring to driving as gambling instead of a skilled activity just because there is always a chance something could happen to you while driving that is out of your control (i.e. "luck"). Sure, we sometimes gamble with our lives when we drive, and might joke about doing so, but when it comes down to it, driving is a learned skill and not a gambling endeavor.
Roulette and craps are gambling games. Even blackjack and sports betting, which can benefit from some amounts of skill, are still heavily ruled by chance and weighted against the bettor. When you play those games, you're "gambling" more often than not that you'll come out on top.
Poker is NOT a game of chance. It is predominately a game of skill with a variable degree of chance that diminishes greatly as skill increases. The distinction is important, which is why serious poker players reject the notion that "poker is gambling." Whether you agree or not is irrelevant, because serious poker players do make that distinction and will tell you you're wrong. I know you like to argue, but this is not an argument you can win.![]()

Which were based not only on your location of Lithuania, but your posting history here where your tone and attitude generated some backlash. Maybe I'm confusing you with someone else, but I thought I recalled that the excuse was it was just a language/culture difference, which legitimately happens sometimes.
So basically what you're telling me now is that's not the case. Ok, that certainly sheds a different light then.![]()

This was a well-documented meltdown while it was happening (there are pages & pages on it on '4' as it was happening). I also watched that final table play out & was just unreal (& saw the thread about the HU meltdown/spew just after).

Then after that, he made the correct decision...to take his +ev position and turn it into millions...which would have been so easy, the next Durr or Ilsidur...except, he ran into a horrible unlucky streak that wiped him out.
S3mper said:running bad or not no winning player loses his BR when his BR consist of 100k, because winning players have good bank roll management and as he started to run bad he should of lowered the stakes..
he shouldn't of moved up the stakes so high any way if your a 25nl player and win 100k you shouldn't just go straight for the 5/10 I'd take a shot at 50nl and if I felt I could beat the game move to 1/2 an so on and if I couldn't beat that move back down to where I can win till I win what I lost back and then take another shot.
and I know it seems so ugghhh winning small amounts of money after winning so big but winning small is better then losing big.. Discipline is a big part of poker and playing in your ability is very disciplined...
Just because your bankroll got bigger doesn't mean your skill got better
