I design and make cnc machines and robots... this hobby turned into a business for me. Thinking far ahead and keeping in mind overall picture are a nice skills, together with discipline, world of mechatronics improved these skills and have helped me to play a better poker.

I find a lot of good poker players play chess. I play chess and say it opens your mind up and uses your brain just like poker. I’d say try the game out and see if it opens ur mind.

None really, poker seems different enough in its own right

I will say perhaps some of my hobbies teach skills which might be applied to poker, but that is hardly limited to just poker.

For example, playing golf can teach you to brush off bad shots or unlucky bounces similar to how to mentally handle poker variance.

Another hobby example might be how my hobby of chess might help refine my perseverance to keep improving and think logically in a way similar to how one must keep improving at poker and approach certain elements of the game logically.

Nothing fits perfectly though - hobbies are each unique in their own way and nothing is exactly like poker

I am retired. My role involved a lot of work in excel. It has become a hobby for me to do statistical studies with different situations. I helps me tremendously to track and build pivots of information from data gathered while playing poker.

I think just having other hobbies besides poker will help you in general because you aren't so hyper focused on just poker. If you are having a bad run you can go do something else and refresh your brain and energy.

I know for me, I like to do needlepoint. I do cross-stitch and blackwork. Usually I have at least 10 patterns on the go at one time. I join a lot of Stitch Alongs and so I get different parts of the patters released at different intervals.

I've been working on this one since January 1st, 2021. The frame was released first and then each month a new pattern of a retro video game is released.

I really like teaching. I even thought about becoming a teacher and one of my hobbies. when I play poker and I teach my son to play poker I feel my performance increases. and he gives me a lot of luck hahaha daddy bet all.

Chess helps with calculation, focus, and visualizing how different lines play out.

Hearthstone with odds and probability and metagaming.

DFS with thinking in ranges, finding profitable bets, and thinking about risk vs. reward.

I used to play chess very well. I'm sure this childhood hobby of mine helps me a lot in poker precisely in terms of strategy and tactics in tournaments.

As a child, my dad taught me how to play chess, later I taught me how to play my son with whom we sometimes play. I believe that the logic that is needed when playing chess helps in poker as well. I love to cross-stitch, to some extent it develops perseverance, which is also needed in poker)
