How to deal with a bad beat?

When you face the bad beat , What did u do to stop depression of losing a big pot ? Do u continue ?

Usually, I take a break.

Take a Break.

And remember that not always the probability of a bad beat is as low as we imagine.

It happens, just carry on unless you recognize that it is affecting your game. If it is then stop and do something else for a while.

I smokeing a cigeretta or i had a broked mouse and hiting that.

Just take a break and try to think about the bad moment, expect to be a little more relaxed and with the mind more calm and return to play, just like all the mistakes you learn something

Hand AA and lost, hand KK and lost, hand AK and lost....
allmost all money gone went all-in with Q5 and won... next game BB, from table one more and still lost it all...
was time to go to sleep

It happens, nothing you can do about it so why be upset! If i am still in other tourneys, i might transform into a LAG. But taking a break is also common for me.

If it affects your game you should definitely take a break, if it doesn't you can go on playing.

a cigarette and a rest could help

If it's tournament ofcourse you cannot do anything but to keep on playing and I don't mind telling the truth . When I play a cash game though and I have a bad beat (and in some other cases ) , I get irritated , annoyed , sometimes on tilt and lose/''burn'' with no reason some money with almost trash hands or I might stop playing at once and continue another time . I'm working on the tilt moments nowadays

Take a break. Evaluate the hand and analyze it. Did you play correctly, was it really a bad beat or was there something you could have done differently? Learn from it if it wasn't a bad beat.

I usually take a break depending on how bad the beat and how much money is involved determines for how long the more wound up I am the longer the break

I agree with everyone, need a break.
But sometimes it is very hard to stop...

I can handle one bad beat but when it comes in a string of them I usually walk away start fresh later

You being a new member and your question leads me to believe you haven't played poker very long. After you been playing like a year, you should be used to bad beats of every kind you can think of, and you should be putting them behind you and go on with your game. If you are still having a serious problem with tilt after that first year, you will not go any where with your game, except deeper in the hole you are digging for yourself, instead of finding a way out. I had been playing for over 10 years when I come to CC and I had a truck load of tilt on my back, and I had no idea what to do, but I got serious about finding help and keep going. My friend, for my first 6 months here I worked mainly on how to deal with tilt. That being said, if you want things to get better, go to work and find a way. Ask 100 questions a week, use the advice to get from these experienced players. If I'm wrong say so. Stop playing 48 hours a day. When you get tired, hungry, depressed, mad, thinking of problems other than poker while playing, and the list goes on. When these guys say take a break, they don't mean 30 minutes. Take a day or more. If you don't I'm sorry to say that you are letting the game you love drag you down. and you are letting it happen without trying to do something to make it better. In other words, all of these things take away the focus that you can't do without while playing poker. And how do you plan to think when you been playing for 10 hours str8. That's my 2 cents

The answer is fold... honestly in freerolls i rarely listen to that advice. I usually totally tilt and shove to get out. I have a additude problem is my problem I usually just say screw it when my stack get really hurt cause i spend so long buiding it up. one bad hand demolishes it. Good luck buddy

bad beats are a part of poker,,,hopefullly you have a big enough stack to sustain the blow and continue on,,,,just laugh and move on cause there`s nothing you can do,,,except pick up and maybe get your $ back from the `donkey` who took it from you,,,lol

The most fascinating bad beat happens for me when my Full house turn into Under house. It really make me feel fool but It is the nature of poker and we must respect it. The practical approach should be "how can we minimize the number of bad beats and its effects on our game".
