If you had a god-given talent for poker, you wouldn't be asking this, so you have to study, a lot, a lot, and play a lot, a lot.
I would recommend joining a backing group, because there you will get education, mental help, and it turns out you can be a player for a living.

That's the million-dollar question. Honestly, with a lot of motivation and talent, my friend, my advice is not to risk your money if you're not getting results, meaning deposit after deposit. Besides, it takes time, meaning 5-6 hour sessions a day.

Probably only a small percentage of poker players are profitable on an ongoing basis, it is simply impossible to win in this game all the time. As one man used to say, study, study, and only study.

“You're not going to be a profitable full-time player when poker starts making you money.”
You become one when you stop making decisions based on emotions.

I think playing a lot helps you gain experience and build up a volume of games.

Play tournaments with the overlay. Play freerolls. Take advantage of promotions. Invest in learning how to play.

One secret: even if you are a very good player, you will still lose sometimes against someone who simply runs hotter and has stronger luck. Skill matters a lot in poker, but luck will always be part of the game.

Pffft, not sure it’s possible. Too much variance, especially online, too many bad beats to get a good run. Maybe win a bit tournament. Cash is too difficult to make a profit at. Too difficult psychologically also, a lot of stress.
That is the case in any competitive sport.
Some are cut out to be among the best and for the most it will remain a hobby.

Saying "rigged" is just an implication you know in fact too little of that game

If only I knew lol . Of course I don't believe anyone would tell you exactly how to become a successful player maybe he would give you some hints , few hints , that's all . All the tricks , the secrets , the master plans , the not so legal decisions, those he would keep for himself ))))))

consistency - create and follow a schedule
discipline - respect the schedule
study - optimize the hands played to lose as little as possible and win as much as possible

some days are profitable and others are not, but don't get discouraged in the short term

For me the biggest shift was realizing profitable poker isn’t about winning sessions, it’s about making better decisions than the pool over thousands of hands. Study a little, review your biggest pots, table select, manage bankroll, and stop trying to win every spot. Position and discipline matter way more than hero calls and highlight bluffs. If you can consistently avoid big mistakes and extract value when ahead, the profit follows over time. Slow and boring usually beats exciting.

When you're consistently finishing in the money (ITM) in 40% or more of the tournaments you play, that's a good sign that you can dedicate yourself fully to poker and be profitable. The problem is when your performance suddenly drops. There are times of the year when my performance is much lower, but my expenses are minimal.

The real path to profitable poker full-time:
1. First prove profitability
You need hundreds of thousands of hands played at one limit with a stable win rate (minimum 3–5bb/100). Without this, it's premature.
2. Bankroll management

Cash: minimum 20–30 buy-ins for your limit
MTT: 100–200 buy-ins (due to variance)
-Never play with money you can't afford to lose

3. Constant learning
Solvers (GTO Wizard, Solver Edge), coaching, spot analysis, hand base. Poker changes - those who don't learn, degrade.
4. Discipline and psychology
Tilt management, rest, don't play tired or on emotions. Variance is inevitable, you need resistance to downswing.
5. Practical side

Calculate your income monthly (not by sessions)
Save for taxes
Health insurance, pension — it’s all up to you
Live more modestly than your average monthly profit

Some people work while going to college full time. Others do not work and attend college full time.

So if you want to be a pro, have your bills paid for the next four years so you don't have to add the financial stress to your poker learning experience.
