What are they thinkin? Hmmmm, well there thought process is somthing down the lines of, Well If I hit my flush, then I'm good...Or something like, well I still have a flush draw.... Or, I got to hit this flush draw... Or, and you get the point...

I noticed you play at UltimateBet. I think one reason (there are many) that you see bad people playing bad Holdem is on sites like UB that not only have the poker, but also other gambling games (roulette, blackjack, etc.) is the players from the gambling room drift over into the Holdem games because they see it on tv and want to play, without any concept of the game. So you will see the bad plays much more at the low levels.

Maybe ultimatebet has a very weak field because all the strong players know about the ultimatebet scandal a few years ago, and thatdiscourages them from playing there, whereas donkeys who don't know anything about the game never heard about that.

ooo i have a pair,, ummmm ALL IN!!!!!!!!!!

but no, i actually signed up to a poker site, and it runs you through the thought process of pros and that of complete amatuers, it was quite funny and interesting... but it depends a lot on personality i guess, mostly if they are passive as a person then its replicated on the poker table, and vice versa..

this guy was super aggressive, he was always betting so he could "scare everyone out" hed bet like 50 into a pot of 10 stuff like that, really funny stuff

The bottom line is that we all are entitled to play our 2 cards how ever we wish to and when the new(donks)poker player is learning the game (we all were there at some point).i am sure he is not trying to give away his money.

I do not tilt any more at the micro stakes, and if u do then u are very naive because what type of poker player do u expect to play agenst at .01/.02 blinds:D .

We all have to start as a new unexperianced player.and i can only hope that i get to play against them 100% of the time, and yes they will ge luck but i will end up with all the cash at the end:D

Completely agreed. When I was called a donk for the first time, I did not know what that meant, and as it happened after I had won a big pot, I thought it was a compliment. :icon_sant

I have found that people love to chase at the low/micro levels. Especally with flushes. I am not sure they justify it with anything other than to say "It's only a dollar" or whatever stakes you are playing for. I didn't realize until I recently looked it up, but if you are holding two of the same suit and two more fall on the flop, you are just over 50% or 1.9:1 to hit your flush! With that kind of odds, it now suprises me less when my set or two pair gets rivered by a chaser. I have noticed that when I fail to bet the flop strong after hitting a big hand, it just leaves the door open to chase. In the OP's scenario, if the donk chases the flush after you bet both rounds strong, you did all you could. If you checked trying to trap (like I have once too often) then you can partially blame yourself. You just never know what two cards your opponent is holding on to at the small dollar tables.

This is my take on Donkeys. Donkeys are good at cash tables they usually dont last, but in tournements there deadly. Unpredictable and hard to read. Eventually there luck runs out but not before taking out several other players. Not sure if anyone here plays rebuys but that how those games are played till break. I continuealy see AA beat by 63 over and over. These games are set up for people that like to all in and pray. The donkeys that play this way once get chips usually stop there donk ways and seat on ther chips, its a stradgey for some I think. They rather go out early if they cant accumilate chips than go out 4 hr into the tournement. Just my observation. That why I love cardchat the donkey are few and far between. The games here are much higher callibor than any public game and most other private games it not funny.

Unless you are willing to accept bad beats when you are ahead, you will never be successful. You just can't eliminate this kind of thing. It is bad when you get this in a tourney. In a cash game, it doesn't matter that much because you can rebuy and get your good hands paid off in the long run. I would rather bet out against a J5 than hands that have nut potential. Betting a standard 4BB raise preflop is a way of saying that you have a good hand and hope that you get some callers. So you found a dummy to call you.

Theres one reason for bad play noones mentioned.
Some of the players in tournaments you may think are donks may actually be players who are capable of playing very well but have simply gone on tilt because of a bad beat.

It's like low-level rebuys have an automatic overlay for decent players because of dead money donks who keep buying in. Some people don't know when to quit. Yet that annoys me.

I had a chance to watch a friend of mine that is fairly new to poker. I was working on his computer while he played. I just sat back and didn't give any tips. ( I wanted to see how he played ).
I was amazed at some of the starting hands he would play. He was easily tilted, if someone won a good hand, he became furious. He would not only play bad hands he would raise with them.
" He doesn't have anything, I just know it." He would then push the guy with a great hand all in. lol. He was playing at a cash table. .50 \1.00. He has more money than experience. This is also the reason why you see bad play at higher limits.

You have to realize everyone is not just blatantly donkish, horrible, and have no inclination they actually play bad. Some people absolutely know they have little idea what they are doing and are just playing for fun, hoping to learn, and improve their game at the same time.

Don't be surprised to be donked out of a freeroll or low limit tourney. freerolls and low limits simply will not teach you how to be a good poker player. I mean, 9000 players. You got donks with rags calling preflop your raises whether it be the standard 3-4BB raise, 10BB, all-in, whatever. You're pretty much forced to become a donk yourself simply because if you wait for even marginal hole cards the blinds will eat up your stack.

Freeroll and low limit tournaments really are donkaments. Cash games are another story. You actually can make something from low limit cash games. It still won't teach you how to be a good poker play though.

Here's one for you. 6 person table. I'm in the BB with AK. Everybody limps around to me. I raise to 6BB. 3, that's right, 3 people call. Flop comes Ah Qc 9s. 520 in the pot, I bet 300. UTG pushes all in, I call. UTG shows A7. The turn and river was both 7s giving him a full house.

So many people play single ace hands, it's ridiculous. Somebody raised? Oh it doesn't matter because I have an ace. It doesn't matter what my second card is. Call!

Howdy all, been out of town for a few days,,,, New players and (or) bad players don't pay that much attention to how other players bet or play... Most seem to think any ace is a great starting hand, I guess you have to tell yourself that even if you get sucked out on once in awhile,,,These same players will pay you off in the long run...
Just my thoughs

I was recently called a donk @ FT during a freeroll…um, hello, I’m playing a freeroll so it’s apparent I’m inexperienced?

I had A.K off in early position so I min raised in case I wanted to get away from the hand…depending on the table action behind me.

OP min reraised from mid position & everyone else folded so it’s heads-up situation. Based on prior hands the OP played…I opted to just call.

The flop = rainbow rag, rag, K….I bet & the OP min raised….thought about it & suspected the OP did not hit a set…so I just called.

Turn = A, I checked (which I generally do when reraised on a prior street) & OP shoved all in….hmmm, why did OP over bet the pot…called since I had 2 pair + 4 outs for a full house with no potential straight or flush on the board -- OP had pocket 5s.

River = non-King face card & OP’s stack severely damaged…OP called me a donk.

Personally I do not like A.K…I have been knocked out of so many tourneys with this hand. With A.K I will call, raise or shove all in depending on position & tendencies of the table; I’m not yet disciplined enough to fold A.K pre flop though.

I’m thinking the OP would have called if I had shoved all in from the beginning & the results would have been the same…so I’m not seeing why I’m the donk…the OP chose an inopportune time to represent a big hand when I suspected the all in was a please-don’t-call bet (vs a have-the-nuts bet). Now if I had made the 2 pair with K.rag off…I would agree about the donk evaluation.

If there were a redo, I would play the hand the same.

I have also watched my brother play, he always plays way too tight. It gives great insight as to how other players will play their cards.

I can imagine many of them get bored and don't know how to play poker very well, along with this I reckon they are just looking for their next mini thrill and don't mind too much about profit, I was at the casino the other night and there was a few guys exactly like that.
