I have long played for play money and then I moved on to poker for real money.
Playing for real money is a lot different from that of the virtual as invest their own money and there are cash prizes so the game a lot more cautious with real money.

Real money ofc man , play money is waste of time.. they don't know even the basics and they never fold preflop ,almost never, because everybody loves to see a flop.

If you want to start playing microlimits I would suggest you the 0.25/90 ,0.25/45 or the one dollar sngs [I propose it because you play on Pokerstars]. You can improve your game, [post flop , stealing spots , playing shorthanded etc] the only drawback is that some of the above suggestions may last over 4hrs

Try freerolls at first to gather some xp and then when you feel ready go at small sit and go.without real money you dont focus and learn from your mistakes.thats my opinion
