Hello friends of the community of CardsChat, I would like to know how you work the anxiety while you are playing, especially in those periods of time when you do not have good hands. Thanks for your comments.

I'm usually nervous. Even the whole body is afraid. But I'm starting to think it doesn't matter. I'm just here for fun. Fate cannot be changed. Everything will be as it should be. After that, there is peace, because everything that happens does not matter, we will all die. Life may not make sense. As it turns out so it turns out.

I used to have it, (well, I still do) when playing live. I have one rule, let the first 3 hands go no matter what (unless AA or KK) just to get comfortable. However, one thing that helped me control the anxiety is to GET COMFORTABLE AT BEING UNCOMFORTABLE. Sounds like a lot of Horse poop, right? What I'm talking about, is accept your emotions, (try to figure out WHY you have it, what is causing it; some Emotional Intelligence refresher might help), and allow it to happen, versus fighting it. After a while, I still had them, but they didn't affect my thoughts, they stoped controlling me, and they were just a small nuisance that eventually went away. Think of it as a kid in school that bullied you. The more you fight him/her, or showing them that you were affected, to more you were bullied. Once you stop paying attention (even if it took some mental work), the bullying went away. (at least for me). Is this makes sense? or did I just confuse the hell out of everyone :)

Anxiety comes when playing out of bankroll, play within your limits and you'll be ok, and even have fun :)

Online is easier, way more. Nobody is seeing you.
Live I like to use sunglasses. Just keep looking forward, move normal and talk only the necessary. Focus on the game and try to read and get information about the others players. Cheap talking sometimes people reveal some of their game.
Cheers,
M.D.

Play more so you get used to it lol. MTTs used to give me anxiety because I knew I would at some point be forced to go all in which I wasn't really used to being in as I used to play cash for the most part so I could always wait until I had profitable spots.

As mentioned initially. It just takes time and experience to learn what variance can look like and wait until you get through it. It's played for fun, if it gives you too much anxiety maybe look at playing a different game type?

After playing for some years, now, it's something that you automatically deal with.

You're going to win some of them, and going to lose most of them (Talking about tournaments).

Problem is that, it you don't get anxious about winning a tourney, then you end up complacent, and that is a big poker killer. Those that get anxious, tells you that they are not getting bored, and are VERY alert when they play.

That's when YOU need a bit of anxiety.

I think little bit anxious is good. If you are too relax. You will play in too many hands without fear. Thats bad too

Well buddy, I do that by listening to music, watching a video, or getting up and taking a quick walk to the bathroom or drinking water when I fold and come back to play the next hand. If the anxiety is great, I call the nurse.:nurse:

I do not feel anxious at all. When I am in a period with bad hands and folding a lot, I just try to pay attention to what other players do.

If you don’t have any kind of anxiety while you play poker. You are a psychopath.

It depends on what is driving your anxiety.

One general thing I can point out that might help, is to view poker as a challenge, and not a competition to crush and run it up. You are going to lose a series of 80/20's sometimes, and that's ok. Invest time into learning to play strong foundational poker, because that will help you recognize your opponents mistakes and build your confidence at the tables.

Also make sure you are adequately rolled for the stake you are playing, and that you aren't attached to the money you are using to play.

I get it too! There is just a buzzy and anxious feeling once I enter the casino and head to the poker area. I do a lot of breath work and meditation to help settle me down. I focus on calming my mind and body thru the breath cycle of 4 seconds breathe in hold 4 seconds and then breathe out 4 seconds. It usually doesn't take long to get in the groove of the table and begin enjoying myelf :) Good Luck

I'm not sure if it's anxiety or excitement when I'm in a huge flip, if it ends well, it's excitement, lol!!! I don't play above my financial level so I don't have anxiety related to spending money I shouldn't, and that's important to me. Of course it's not great when I'm on a downward swing and my hard earned poker bankroll is going in the wrong direction, but I just try and put on my big girl shoes, tough it out, study more and play a better game. :)

Without a doubt, a good coffee is the only thing I need for anxiety, it wakes me up and allows me to be more active for difficult decisions

To calm yourself down and pacify yourself, just stop playing for a while, and then back into battle)))

anxiety

professional poker players accept this game as a day job and they know how stressful it is going to be , choosing poker as a job is not easy. somebody says that its a hard way to earn easy money but these players after playing thousands of thousands of hand know how to handle these situations and how to put up with anxiety

Anxiety.

I try to get some exercise and sweat a bit before playing. Sometimes I listen to soft music and that helps me with anxiety.:bath::cool:
