the main thing is not to panic, the cards will come sooner or later, for example, when I play, I try not to think about winning, I think only about the game and about nothing else

I feel really anxious while playing online, I'll usually step away from the computer and get something to drink or eat.

I mostly always play online versus live, nobody can see my nervous ticsBut I definitely have them.

one of them is that I actually bite my shirtsleeves. I have no idea how this got started or why. I guess one reason is biting my shirt takes my focus away from the computer screen so I don't have to stare in agony if I lose.

I sadly smoke cigarrets for anxiety. Trying and wishing to quit. Just focusing and thinking in the cards and in the game makes me smoke less!

There are several things you can try:
1. Focus on your breathing, a lot of people get nervous and they just stop breathing.
2. Go to your "happy place" think about a fond memory.
3. Try to do math problems in your head, for some reason its difficult to do math and be nervous.

Hi! If you are anxious, it is better to postpone the game until better times.

When i feel anxious I have a few techniques which greatly help me out
#1 Breathe deeply (often when we feel anxious we are holding our breath)
#2 Forget about anticipation (this also leads to breath holding, hoping for something to happen i.e. getting dealt a good hand)
#3 Be grateful that I'm playing poker (I'm not thinking about winning, I'm just enjoying the fact that I'm playing)
#4 Focus on the game to keep the mind busy (taking notes on opponents is a helpful approach, keeping track of the bet sizes, anything that keeps you engaged in the game)

The key with this game is not to be thinking about the result you want, how much money you'll win, when you'll get a good hand etc. The key is to enjoy the fact you're playing and just be patience, as long as you stay calm and focused you'll make the most of the opportunities when they come, but if you aren't doing that you may get anxious as you are not really engaged with the game, you're just fantasizing about the future.

Simple thing to remembers
1) Thinking about the future tends to make us feel anxious
2) Thinking about the past tends to make us feel depressed

So instead just focus on the present, enjoy the game, and relax... Have fun!:bebored:

Anxiety is a concerning word. Many people complain about boredom but just sitting at the table I wouldn't expect that anyone should feel anxious. If you're in a big hand it can be tough but in general you should try to be more relaxed. Pay attention to the action even when you are not in the hand so you know how others are playing when you eventually ARE in a hand. Engage in table chat as others have suggested. Try to spot weaknesses in each players game. There should be plenty to focus on if you're tuned in.
Some great advice. Thanks. What do you focus on while playing online?

There is a breathing technique: when inhaling, count to 4, and when breathing, count to 4, do it several times.

Friends, a big factor in general anxiety is the diet we eat as a habit. The emblem and anxiety generator, among others, is refined sugar.
Eat as natural as possible and as raw as possible.

A reference on the subject of refined sugar is the book "sugar blues" by William Dufty written in 1975 "According to the publishers, more than 1.6 million copies have been printed " Dufty uses narrative form to delve into the history of sugar and the history of medicine "

I think during the game it is undesirable to think about winning money, most of all it is important to think as much as possible to play well and enjoy the game. And Yes with good music it will go like clockwork:top:

What anxiety? It's all fun. Only play what you can afford to lose or play freerolls.

Just play your game, and remember that everyone will lose, you just need to play by bankroll, and try to open the right ranges.

If I could have solved my anxiety problem I think I would be a millionaire by now. Hahaha. Seriously speaking, I think anxiety is my worst enemy in the game. I know I shouldn't raise that bet, but I haven't played for so many hands that at some point of weakness I do something stupid. And good bye. Try your luck another day. The days that I can solve that little problem, surely I advance a lot in the tournament. But most of the time, anxiety wins.:cool:

No idea, bad hands started years ago and has never changed for me, still waiting. I very seldom get face cards and when I do I am beat by trip 2´s and stuff like that.

Good morning.I don´t feel anxiety when I play poker. When I don´t get good hands ,I just wait for the best moment. What I feel is the adrenaline when I´m playing a good pot in a tournament or in a cash game.I do love that feeling!

The more experience you have, the more you realize that you are just playing your cards. If you have a strategy, just stick to it and that takes the anxiety away.

personally I control it by listening to good relaxing music, I also have some chips on my desk and I move them as if I were playing live because I am an online player I do it to control anxiety it is like an anti stress and I open several tables some 6 tournament or table windows to be more focused.
