Hello friends of the community of CardsChat, I would like to know how you work the anxiety while you are playing, especially in those periods of time when you do not have good hands. Thanks for your comments.
When i feel anxious I have a few techniques which greatly help me out
#1 Breathe deeply (often when we feel anxious we are holding our breath)
#2 Forget about anticipation (this also leads to breath holding, hoping for something to happen i.e. getting dealt a good hand)
#3 Be grateful that I'm playing poker (I'm not thinking about winning, I'm just enjoying the fact that I'm playing)
#4 Focus on the game to keep the mind busy (taking notes on opponents is a helpful approach, keeping track of the bet sizes, anything that keeps you engaged in the game)
The key with this game is not to be thinking about the result you want, how much money you'll win, when you'll get a good hand etc. The key is to enjoy the fact you're playing and just be patience, as long as you stay calm and focused you'll make the most of the opportunities when they come, but if you aren't doing that you may get anxious as you are not really engaged with the game, you're just fantasizing about the future.
Simple thing to remembers
1) Thinking about the future tends to make us feel anxious
2) Thinking about the past tends to make us feel depressed
So instead just focus on the present, enjoy the game, and relax... Have fun!:bebored:
