Poker has mostly helped me develop patience and mental strength. Dealing with bad beats or losing to weaker players has taught me not to tilt and to keep playing the same way, even after frustrating losses.
On the downside, it definitely takes up a lot of time. There are sessions where you invest many hours and it can feel pointless when you don’t cash or when results are bad. So while poker has improved my mindset in many ways, it also requires careful balance to make sure it doesn’t take over too much of my daily life.
