For me, 8-handed tables are the best — it’s easier to control variance. With 6 players, it’s really hard to build your stack, and you feel like you’re always stuck with the same amount of chips.

Between 6 and 8 is the average for a good balance in my opinion!

For a Cash game, I would prefer 6-max (no ante, no straddle, no bomb pot etc) ...For a Tournament I would prefer 8-Max table any blinds interval

8 is the ideal. 6 players and below is small. And 9 players is bit much.

How many players do you prefer on your table ? I usually like 6 players table.
Same here—I like 6-max. It’s faster, more action, and you get to play more hands without the chaos of a full ring.

6 to 9 players. 8 is a comfortable number.

In tournaments I prefer 8 players, but when I play cash games I like to have 6 players at the table

8 or 9 because more player's more action

For me, the ideal tournament—the perfect MTT—is one with eight players at the table. In 6-max, you need to be a much more aggressive player. The fewer players there are at the table, the more aggressive you have to be. And in 4-max, you need to bluff all the time, which makes the variance much higher. You have to be a very skilled player and study a lot. So, in my opinion, for my style of play, an MTT with eight players at the table is perfect.

On second thought:

MTT: 8...Cash: 6

I prefer 6, 8, or 9 players. For me, in cash games, 8 players is better for making a profit.

6 is better. More room at the live table and the hands go round quicker.

8 handed is good for me ( 9 even better !). Full tables reward caution and discipline .

I enjoy playing at tables with 9 players, both in tournaments and cash games. It's a shame that 9-player cash games are disappearing.

I feel comfortable playing at a table of 4-6 players. There are fewer chances of playing a bad hand and it is easier to bluff than at tables with a large number of players.

I like to play with 9 players. However, it's all about personal preference and finding the best solution for you and your poker buddies. The focus also includes technical and organizational aspects of the game, which impact the comfort of participants and the overall quality of the competitive process. These factors play a key role in creating a stimulating and engaging gaming environment, facilitating the development of skill among participants.

I’d go with 6 too—enough action to keep it interesting, but not so many that it feels like you need a telescope to see what everyone’s doing. Plus, fewer players = fewer chances for that one guy who insists on “explaining” every hand. 😅

Each format changes the game. Short-handed tables reward aggression and constant pressure. Six-max feels balanced enough action, enough strategy. Full tables demand patience and discipline. There’s no “best” choice, only what fits your style and mindset at the moment.

I always prefer the complete table setting, of course, even the final table setting 😁
