I have learned playing poker from the seat of dealer paying attention at players and their actions and playing training games with the other dealers before games with players and in a short period of time i started playing online at Pokerstars and there i learned more from my mistakes.

Oddly enough, I learned playing 5 card draw before I even knew what Holdem was. This was many years ago mind you. Some friends of mine decided to teach me how to play and I loved it! Then some time later I found out you can play poker online and since I really enjoyed it I decided to give it a hot.

So there I was, in some online lobby and I see all these games called NLH, Omaha, Stud and so on. I was really confused. So I observed the different games and decided I like the NLH version best.

Of course, living in a small town South Africa means nobody know the first thing about this thing called Holdem. So I started reading up on the basic rules and strategy. Now, many years later I'm still playing online and still enjoying it. I've learned a few things over the years too!

I started about 4-5 years ago, my friend told me to try it out.
Didn't like it at first because at that time it felt like "gambling".
My friend then coached me in how to play the game and it starts opening my eyes on the game of poker.
Even now i consider myself a fish, but i do earn a bit from it playing online.
one thing i can say is that, i have never deposited more that $10 in any poker site online. the $10 was just to activate and to be able to withdraw the fund.

One thing that helped me or anyone playing online is the invention of the HUD, without it, i would have lost a lot of money playing poker.

I play using HM2 with Leak Buster and it helped in the table.
For now I believe that poker is a game of Skills, even if you get shity cards, if you play it right. you still have a chance of winning.

I personally do not like the HUD and I think that is not a fair program because you should be keeping track of you opponent's hands ant not a program.

I learned from my grandmother. We had a game going every Sunday with family and friends that we called penny ante poker. It was a mixed game such as "follow the queen" "seven card stud" "five card draw" "Mexican sweat" "deuces wild" etc. Although there wasn't much holdem I was able to learn the basics of poker. I long for those days and hope that eventually my family will start doing them again but with my kids and grand-kids. Anyhow thats where it all started for me. The wsop on espn is what re-ignited my passion for poker. But so far this site has really been the most helpful and encouraging help that I have found anywhere.

Best of luck at the tables,
Brandon M.

Its ironic, that I began playin poker in jail, when I was 17 years of age.... Back then, they were bottom dealing, playin as a team, and whatever they could do to get my cash....
The smoke filed rooms, gangster days are over.... Its so good to play legally and win!!!!

Just put some money on the table and give it a try, they said.

It will be fun, they said.

16 years old at a friends birthday party wherein I lost all my money. Clearly, I was hooked.

My Mom taught me how to play. I bet you thought I was going to say "Your Mom taught me"... am I right?

Once my hands were big enough to hold the cards, I was playing poker.

Learned Game but Learned to play and win?

I learned about poker back when I was a kid from just casual poker games that happened on family outings etc. But I learned how to win small from Crush live poker deuces cracked back in the day.But recently became a crusher through Upswing poker with the added twist from training from Deep stack Gary Jacobson. I thought I knew poker but the Upswing and deep Stack Gary training has been like a lightbulb affect. I went from being a 5 to 6 bb and hour live cash game grinder to a 12-15 bb crusher. Just want to give a shout out to Deep Stack Gary and I cant wait for his training site, Boot Camp and Vlogs to go mainstream and be available to the public. Oh maybe I don't want the masses to know what I know but thanks Gary for giving me a huge edge in poker.
