I think playing poker under the influence of alcohol is like driving a car while intoxicated. It can drive several times, but the consequences can be disastrous.

Sometimes I don't mind a glass of wine when I'm playing online in the evening. It helps me relax a little. Obviously drinking the whole bottle is not recommended :)

How about drinking the whole case, would that be okay? :)

I'm just the opposite and I have played at the same table more than a few times with people who had "too much" to drink. If you can't play smart and aggressively under many different and unique conditions as they arise then play safe.
I personally don't let all my guards down when drinking and playing but I do become more engaging and play a more psychological game where I seem better able to assess bluff potential.
As I say once in a while, the best cards don't always win.

In my personal case ... if it affects me ... it distracts me a lot ... I don't concentrate what is necessary in the game ... I don't recommend it to anyone ...! when playing poker ... you need to be very focused to be able to read more clearly to opponents ...!

Its good that you found what is the problem for you. Many people don't want to accept fact that something is there in their life's and they are continuing to go against them self. First step for solving the problem is accepting that you are having it. Stay sober mate

as long as you drink moderately and if it is more than you should always affect what you do and that will generate bad results

Good afternoon;

In fact, drinking helps, in my opinion, but only if you are going to drink moderately. Alcohol causes a lot of upheaval for the person and ends up causing him to have actions with serious consequences.

Alcohol and poker should only be mixed if you're in it for the fun. When you're playing like a maniac with several people in an open table, you're bound to be seen as the "fish" lmao.

Good luck next time, and hope you learned from your experience :)

I dont find that it affects my overall play, but it gives me a worse feel of the ebbs and flows of the table.

Everything that messes with your physical and mental state affects your poker game and alcohol does both. Best is to avoid playing drunk. Saying that for me personally sometimes (not every time) one beer (just one 500ml) helps me to relax and focus to the game. Anything more than that have negative effect on my game.

As almost everybody i have also played drunk and if you play freerolls or micro, you don't care about the end result and you are not susceptible to tilt while drunk you can still play drunk for some fun. Most people though are easily susceptible to tilt while drunk so good general advice is to avoid alcohol while you play.

Drinking alcohol is pointless in some way. it makes you crazy, destroy the concentration, you have no focus on the right things. So better in any way to drink clear, healthy water

I'm easy because I never drink alcohol. Therefore, I do not know what my game would be in alcoholic condition.

I agree, I wouldn't say drinking and playing are best if you're trying to make money. If you're trying to have fun and are okay with losing money, sure! But you wouldn't find a chess player wondering if it's best to drink or not before playing an important game.

hello friend if it is just a drink to relax, I do not think it affects it and I miss it .. but if you go over it of course it affects decision making :D so be very careful .. once it happens to me and I end up losing more money than the account

alcohol at the table

I am generally a very impulsive person; therefore when I drink it can intensify those impulses. Sometimes it's good sometimes its bad. But its much easier to just say screw it and call the bet that you know isn't a good idea to call. I don't advocate total sobriety at the poker table because drinking does benefit me in some ways. But drink something you are familiar with so you have a general idea of how you're going to feel after consuming.

I do not drink alcohol at all while playing.
You will not be able to take the right action, which will inevitably lead to even more frustration.

It depends on how much alcohol to drink and for what. Drinking a little will not prevent me from concentrating on the game. But for some it might be a problem. I think it's all individual

One of the larger elements of poker is the fear factor. I remember a lady who could hardly stand up, ambled over to my table, sat down, ordered more drinks and ran a VPIP about 90%. She won big and left with all of the rest of us watching her leave with our jaw dropped. Drinking can be your poker buddy, but it can also create your worst nightmare.
Cheers!

It doesn't affect me to have a drink while playing, but there's been a time or two when i had a FEW drinks, and definitely made more "wth" type calls. lol :joyman::eek::joyman::cool:
