if you really play poker then why such naive questions? I don't know how anyone can consistently win online- I suggest playing live if this is your goal. Practice online, and play live for the big money.

If you can't grind up a bankroll playing in the micros you're definitely not going to be able to make money playing even at the low stakes... nevermind mid or high.

I'm not saying you're suggesting this > (but have heard MANY members on here state this who are playing in the CC freerolls).... they know they'd be competitive playing HSMTT's but they just don't want to invest that kind of money into it. It is dillusional and is the type of thinking the ones who are making a living at the game love to hear.

My answer for OP,
I would say pre-2011, if you put in the time to study away from the tables (& by study I mean studying effectively) and were really dedicated and willing to work hard, YES you could make a living playing poker (online).
These days, the reality is that it is much much harder. When you open a table of a high buyin MTT when it's deeper into the game, there might be one whale on the table.. maybe. Even in low stakes the tables are filled with players who have LOTS of experience! Sure you'll find some really bad players in there too, but they are much fewer than in the past. Weekends are by far your best chance as the fields are much softer than on the weekdays. But will you make a living at it? Not likely imo. You might become a winning player but you'l need to be grinding it out to make 1/2 of what you'd make from typical minimum wage job.

learn to strip and remember the game of poker is very dynamic! what works today at the tables tomorrow may not work! you need to play 5 days a week 1 day of practice analyzing the game and one day a full weekend! good luck to you!

Probably not. The competition online is super fierce and big or medium sized mistakes are rare. The edges only get smaller and smaller. Also a lot of the fish lose their money in cash games within minutes....

Maybe if you study up on good bankroll management

There are unplanned swings in poker. To counter balance the ups and downs you need to risk only a little at a time so if you do lose you still have money left. I'm just now learning that from playing at the top of my bankroll for many years with lots of money wasted. I also suggest if you don't have a lot of money, play freerolls for practice. Anyone can make money, sure. The question rather is whether you can sustain that over a long term. Poker is one of the most mentally challenging games, and you have to be very strong in that department. If you can pull that off, got some skill, and a bankroll behind you, then yeah. You can make money— but I should add competition is more tougher than it was 10 yrs ago
