If I won a million dollars from poker, I don’t think I’d completely quit—but I would change how and why I play.

The biggest benefit of a win like that would be freedom. I wouldn’t feel pressure to grind, chase volume, or play when I’m tired or tilted. Poker would go back to being something I choose to play, not something I have to play.

I’d probably:

  • Move down in stakes or play selectively
  • Focus more on tournaments or formats I genuinely enjoy
  • Take longer breaks between sessions
  • Spend more time studying and less time grinding
For me, poker isn’t only about money—it’s about problem-solving, psychology, and constant learning. Winning big wouldn’t kill that interest, but it would remove the stress that sometimes comes with it.

So no, I wouldn’t quit poker entirely—but I’d definitely stop treating it like a job and start treating it like a passion again.

If I earned something similar, then I would invest more in my career as a player. Because if I earned that amount with a low investment, then I would have a good chance of earning it again with a larger investment.

Quit? No way! With a million, I’d play even more. I’d become a High Roller, secure my wsop seat, and live for the grind. New job? Only if it’s being a Poker Pro in Vegas. Let’s go!

I would quit for half a mil and not necesarly if is won from poker, just the amount matters.
playing poker seriously it's more than a full time job, and a lot of "living" can be achieved in the absence of spending time playing poker.

I would just deposit the cash in the bank and collect 3% a year dividents ( that would be a 2500 monthly income without risk) . trying to make 2500 montly from playing takes a lot of hours and risk of variance.... no thanks

I would just play homegames with my friends for little money and fun.

In my case, I play poker to make money while having fun. But if I won a million dollars, I wouldn't need to play to make money anymore. I'd find something else to do for fun; there would be no point in continuing to play poker.

If I won a million dollars, I would buy real estate with that money. In my city, a one-room apartment in a new building costs 60-70 thousand dollars. I could buy 10 apartments, make repairs in them, buy furniture and appliances and rent them out. And in my free time I would continue to play :)

On the contrary, I think I would play in more expensive tournaments to raise my level, although I would invest more than 80% of my earnings in real estate to generate more money.
