Most poker players are Christians. Today the Pope died. So I guess many Catholics won’t play exactly this day.

The Romans played dice below the cross.
And Jesus said:
Father forgive them.......

Since I don't believe in god that's no issue for me .
I think there is a passage somewhere in the bible which says you shouldn't gamble.

Technically poker isn't gambling so I think you're good.

Being greedy is sinful, if poker makes you greedy you shouldn't be playing it
If it takes the love for your neighbour from you, you shouldnt play it

Agreed <3 In life, we always have to have our eyes on the good, God, kindness, whatever you chose to call him <3 and there are many sinful things in this world. But like Ronald said, if it takes your virtue and goodness, then you should stop immediately <3

I never put money on poker. I just play these games, with my friends <3 that is how I draw the line. I think everyone should find what works for them <3 and Happy Easter, CC <3 God bless you and yours, and you too @G0930* Hahah <3 You are in his vision 😛 Boom!

*Val, you can yell at me in private 😛 lol

It depends how deep you want to go into it and your own personal beliefs I think.

It's a strategy game played for money. If it's an interest God gave you and you play responsibly I don't see too much harm.

And I don't really believe the "You're doing others harm when they not be able to control their vices" argument. It's not my responsibility to do so. The major sports leagues and teams sold out to sportsbooks and online casinos, When you start to see the millionaire role model athletes take pay cuts so they don't have to have these companies on their chest I'll consider dropping my hobby, but until then I have a cool hobby that pays cash and over the long run rewards hard work.

Most other people's hobbies involve them paying money to a company owned by Blackrock...

Funding evil is still evil.

God Bless

I think there are a bunch of other things that some Christians do that are worse, some a LOT worse.

Yes brother, humans are deeply flawed creatures.

Also anyone can claim to be a member of any religion, there isn't some divine right of passage you must achieve before your vocal chords grant you the ability to call yourself a Christian. This is why the actions of one person or organisation isn't reflective of the entire religion.

Also it's human nature to believe in something, in the absence of religion it's often the state.

Buy Canadian, Elbows up and all that.

God Bless

I don't think it's valid for a religion to dictate that you can or can't play.
Even so, today the church does not punish profit as it did in the past

Hello, everything must be directed to the Bible, the scriptures do not say that playing cards or poker is a sin, what it says:
The Bible does not specifically condemn gambling, or betting, or the lottery. The Bible, however, warns us to stay away from the love of money.
would be close to addiction of any kind, work, drinking, etc.

One thing we should be careful about with poker is the fact that it can be deluded by dreams, so if you really want something with poker, focus on the process and work.
''Certainly the game revolves around the love of money and undeniably tempts people with the promise of easy and quick wealth.''

The question in my mind is how is playing poker as an occupation any different from any other occupation? It's not. You study, you train, you practice, you earn, you pay taxes. It's identical to being a brain surgeon or a lawyer or an electrician.

I don't give it any importance. According to the Bible, almost everything is a sin.

It is so hard to know what is right or wrong. Don't beat yourself up trying to follow that last bit of perfection.

I know I wrestled with no matter what job or profession I chose, I wrestled with am I stealing from my fellow man. And when working for a corporation, am I helping corporations steal from my fellow man even faster.

Most corporations provide useful services and/or products. You'd be hard pressed to find many that exist solely to steal from people.

Some Christians argue that poker is a game of skill and strategy rather than pure chance, and therefore it may not conflict with their values

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that God did not forbid anyone to live the way he likes and do what he likes.

I wonder if there are some Christian reasons
In God’s Own Country that make gambling illegal apart from Sin City and some other enclaves.

Apparently, any gambling according to Christian beliefs is not a good thing. But I think if you are a good person and ready to help others, it's not so bad 🙂
