Very impressive whodey.
tenbob said:Heh, I knew that would get a reaction, and it's has had the desired result. I still feel that OP has deviated from the initial idea of building a roll based on proper BR managment. I feel that its sending out a bad message to the players on this site that the better posters are supposed to be helping and leading by example.
FYI myself and Irexes made the comment on MSN at the time I was writing this post that making this thread a sticky would be perfable to locking.
Cheetah said:No, it hasn't had the desired reaction. Unless you wanted to piss off Chris, me, and the regulars of this forum.
Your feelings about the OP are not shared by me and Chris, possibly others.
This thread is not only not sending bad message, it is doing exactly the opposite. If you feel otherwise, this is only your opinion. Is CC about sharing of diverse opinons, or enforcing the opinions of a few?
To compare making this thread closed to sticky is incomprehensible to me. It is like you are not taking this seriously. It sounds like: "let's flip a coin and see whether to close this thread or make it sticky".
I am not surprised Chris is mad. I considered PMing him after your post, but decided against that since I think this should all be resolved in the open.
Frankly, tenbob, I think you should apologize to Chris publicly for calling him a gambler. He is anything but that. He stated his guiding principles at all stages of his bankroll and followed them.
Some, including myself, have not agreed with everything he said, but that doesn't mean that they or I am right and he is wrong. I have personally not offered a single piece of evidence that I am correct. It is all an opinion.
Let me just say that if utility of money is considered, then Chris's latest strategy not only makes sense, but may be the best one. Now, I could elaborate more on that, but how could I do that if this thread were closed? Any ideas?
I just wanted to say that I'm not upset about anything other than the call for getting the thread closed.Cheetah said:I am not surprised Chris is mad.

I think tenbob's main point was that I'm supposed to be a "good example" or even a "role model" for new readers wanting to build a bankroll.
However, just because I started the thread doesn't make me anything special. There have been several people on this thread who played underrolled, and we've always given them the advice to play lower. But ultimately, it's up to everybody how they want to proceed.
In fact, if you re-read the very first post in this thread, you'll find that I have put no restrictions for building the bankroll (other than the obsolete $50 rule) in place.
In my case, everybody is guaranteed to know what happens. I won't just vanish when things go wrong. I've always kept on updating, and if this backfires you'll see my graph freefall down to zero.
If, on the other hand, it doesn't backfire, I don't think people will start wanting to follow my current BRM. We're not talking about kids who see the end result and go "I wanna do that too". Everybody can see that I lost half my bankroll twice in less than a week. The danger is obvious, so I don't think I need to be a good example at all times.
I don't think there's anything wrong with what Ten bob said and IMO there's no reason for anyone to be upset. It does send out of a bit of a bad message in a way because the thread is named "Bankroll Management" and he was playing with all his money at one time on multiple tables. I have no problem with him changing it up after being down, being confident in his play, and using a fairly risky management of his bankroll. The way it might send a bad message is to the onlookers is that they will notice what he's doing, and think they might give it a try. Without results it should mean nothing to onlookers IMO. Hopefully that this method can put him back to where he wants if he can manage to pull it off. Chris stated his case and knows it isn't proper BR management, and people surely aren't going to read through previous posts to see what happened, but I think it was more of a suggestion, not a harsh statement on Tenbob's part, or him being an ass or something. He's a quality player and person and was only giving advice and stating his opinion.Heh, I knew that would get a reaction, and it's has had the desired result. I still feel that OP has deviated from the initial idea of building a roll based on proper BR managment. I don't believe you think the same way as me at all.nubstyle said:i've enjoyed reading this thread so far and i see what the OP was thinking at first, but i think the same way as him now, even though i have a much lower bankroll. i enjoy the gamble and don't mind sitting down at a HU NL cash game for 20-50.

First of all, you mentioned that you "re-deposited" money. This leads me to believe that you have deposited previously and lost your roll. You should probably figure out why you lost your roll before going nuts with the stakes.
I've been criticized lately, but despite all my seemingly insane play, I have yet to lose my roll. And in case I do, I will not re-deposit $2K.
Secondly, I don't enjoy the gamble. But I didn't want to grind it out for months and months just to get anywhere near back to where I was.
If you're prepared to lose those 100 bucks, then that's alright. Just make sure you understand that buying into a game for 1/4th your bankroll (something I've never done by the way) will only work for so long, if at all.
Trust me, it takes a lot more to piss me offnubstyle said:i'm sorry if i pissed ya off at all![]()

"bar my final £600 i've bust everything i've been lent.... so i've decided to sell the house. it's something that's been on my mind for awhile. whenever i'm broke it always seems stupid having money invested in the house but having nothing to play with."
