lol yeah the lag was horrendous though like I bet that 2k on the flop not the turn but w/e worked out I got the double no idea how. Then I re-ship 66 over an LP iso after a UTG limp and UTG re-shoves over me other guy folds UTG had AK lol and obv river=K gg me. Pretty sure it wasn't just the isp but there are probably like 50 people here trying to play on Stars so that may have had something to do with it like firefox/FTP work fine ah well.

Uncool .. :(
Stacked a guy on this table 2 hands before KK > KQ Q on flop.

EDIT: HEM says I was 95% on turn.

CO: $25 (100 bb)
BTN: $25 (100 bb)
SB: $20.10 (80.4 bb)
BB: $32.42 (129.7 bb)
UTG: $36.33 (145.3 bb)
Hero (MP): $48.49 (194 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP with K:club: K:heart:
UTG raises to $0.85, Hero raises to $3, 4 folds, UTG calls $2.15

Flop: ($6.35) 4:club: 9:spade: 9:diamond: (2 players)
UTG bets $3, Hero raises to $9, UTG calls $6

Turn: ($24.35) 8:spade: (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $17, UTG raises to $24.33 and is all-in, Hero calls $7.33

River: ($73.01) Q:club: (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Results: $73.01 pot ($3.00 rake)
UTG showed Q:diamond: Q:spade: (a full house, Queens full of Nines) and won $70.01 ($33.68 net)
Hero showed K:club: K:heart: (two pairs, Kings and Nines) and lost (-$36.33 net)

And zach it was A on river :)

OK I think I like FPP satellites!

Just won a seat in the Million today for 2500 fpps

So counting last week I've turned 4000 fpps into $1265 tourny cash

Fair question.

1) I make 14000fpps a week (at least) which pays for the warm up or million. I've cashed a fair bit (3k worth so far this year) and had a couple of top 100 finishes and fully plan a final table. If it wasn't for the fpps I'd only play it through sats.

2) I've played a lot of hands in the last year so the 300k isn't all of it. Prior to that I made a few thousand at 50nl and 100nl. The breakeven started with 80k at 200nl then the rest at 100nl. I can now beat up 50nl as well as the next guy and probably 100nl.

3) Yes about the time thing and MTTs

but the real answer,

4) most importantly I'm entirely comfortable with breaking even while I learn to play ring. I think there's a ridiculous rush for people to move up the limits and win mirrions when actually to really beat the game takes time and application. The other risk is burnout, there's a lot of people who do great for a while then crash and burn and quit. When I started playing poker of any sort I said I'd be happy to spend money learning how to play for 5 years. Figuring that it would be a skill worth paying for.

Fortunately I got lucky and won early (and it really was luck, I won 8k in an MTT when I thought overcards were a made hand) and went from there to win decent sums in MTTs but I stand by what I said. This is a game of the long-term, and it's really long.

So while learning ring I've read watched and studied a lot and I've slowly put together a game which I'm sure in the next couple of years will see me consistently winning at 200nl (maybe higher). It took me 3 years to develop an MTT game that I was happy with, I'm not worried about it taking a similar time at ring (as I say it's been a year so far).

In those 300k hands which is the last 6 months(ish) I've tried all sorts of things. I've adopted and discarded many many strategies and come back to some two or three times looking for the right balance. I'm getting closer to a game I'm happy with.

If I was doing the same things now and making the same mistakes I was 300k hands ago I'd agree it's a lost cause, but I've learned and changed a ton. Nothing irritates me more than people who post here that they are losing and don't see that in order to change the results they need to change their behaviour.

The graph was more of an "OMG I HAS THE LONGEST BRAKE EVEN" than a compaint, and I'll be surprised if the next 300k isn't a decent 2/3BB 100, but we'll see.

Anyway that's more than you asked but I was thinking about all this anyway :)

Rex you have a fantastic attitude to the game and I think your willingness to learn and patience is fantastic. I hope you achieve all you want to achieve and continue to work hard.

Myself included all young/inexperienced players should learn from this attitude.

I'm swinging like a monkey between +4 and breakeven for the last 2k hands.
Don't know what's wrong. (besides the monkey spew from last night of course).

Probably just variance.

He has got a v.good outlook, i read an interview with him ages ago in a poker mag and was impressed, he seems like a really good bloke as well, it's funny that you posted those links today tho, i was randomly looking through the golden archives bit this morning and read those two, very good threads.

I too have now got a very long term view to poker, being in the army i can leave after 22 years (i'll be 41) and come out on a £1k pm pension, my missus says that if i do that and theres a regular income coming in to pay the bills then i can play poker for a living :D I know its long time away, 16 years!, but the idea of retiring at 41 to play poker for the rest of my days makes me smile like a cat from cheshire lol

You have phailed the comprehension test.

41 - 16 = 25 (probably).

i didnt bet turn because he c-bets so often (86%) so i figure the odds of him actually having something were slim so by checking im giving him a chance to catch or bluff river
