I have been playing poker for over 12 years, and there have been several times when I lost interest in the game. To be more precise, there were things in my life that became more important at that moment and took priority. Take a break, and after a while, everything will fall into place.

Oh yeah, I’ve been there. Sometimes poker feels like the greatest game ever invented… and other times it feels like the deck personally filed a restraining order against me.

I’ve had phases where even opening the client felt like a chore. That’s usually when I take a break, touch some grass, and remember what sunlight looks like.

Funny thing is, the interest usually sneaks back on its own. One day you’re "done with poker," and the next day you’re watching a random hand on YouTube thinking, "…okay maybe just one session."

Totally normal - even the poker gods take days off.

There was a time when I lost interest in poker for a few years, but then I started playing again and now I'm back to the point where I don't feel like playing at all. I can log in to the game every couple days for half an hour, but that's not always the case. I can skip the game for weeks on end.

Yes, before the war I had a stable, well-paying job, and I rarely spent my evenings at the poker table. But in these difficult times, I have no choice, and poker is one of my sources of income and my hope for a better life.

Yes, it's happened to me. You might be burned out on it, meaning you play for too long. A break might be a good idea.

Anyway, I don't know your personal situation, but I wanted to mention that losing interest in things like this can also be a symptom of depression. Just so you're aware, and if that's the case, you can seek the help you need.

This happens to me when I have difficulty finding time to play—commitments, travel, bad internet, long periods of time. As for feeling discouraged or losing interest in poker, it has only happened a few times, when I was playing in a single room. But by diversifying my rooms, one for a while, another for a while, playing different types of tournaments, and setting goals, I've been kept active during the periods I play.
