So the solution is to get better obv. My philosophy is that Phil Ivey or Tom Dwan are good enough that no matter how tough poker gets they'll still be able to make decent money. So I'll just get better than them.

Thanks, I mean I figure Dwan's just a luckbox that always gets his money in bad and sucks out, so should be easy.

Does anybody not really care even if online poker did get dry in like >5 years? Maybe it is just me, but i find it hard enough to get motivated to play now and i'm quite sure i will ****ing hate this game in 5 years. Obviously i'd love uigea to get overturned, as it will definitely increase the lifespan of online poker and soften the games, but i'm quite sure i'll be ready to move on to other things in a few years, even if it means making much less money than can be made from online poker.

Idk, i'm really struggling with having no motivation to play lately, which is worrying seeing as i am intending to play this w/o a job/school for the next year. I just DREAD the days where i get stuck like 5 buy ins right away and end up playing a long session trying to get unstuck. What i wouldnt' do to be able to log long sessions when i am winning and stop right away when losing - but i just HATE losing days. Just an idiotic mentality as i've made >$100/hr for the entire year, so it would make sense just to play and suck up the variance. But instead i'd just rather a "feel good" + couple hundred dollar day rather than "risking" turning it into a losing day. Seriously got to fix this - it is actually the one thing that has impressed me about fullflush (and ivey does this as well) but he tends to quit right after a beat/loss of momentum. I think it is a really +EV skill to be able to quit at the right time and leave money on the table, but is something i really struggle with HU (obv it isn't a problem in 6max, since you aren't leaving money on the table per se since a bunch of ppl have a shot at it). I just can't bring myself to quit when down until i am just sick of playing. It isn't a tilt problem, but it is hard to play HU w/ no momentum and a bad metagame/image.

I'm pretty sure not everyone thinks that way Feitr. Not that all the people that are grinders now will be doing the same in +5 years. But I think more than half want to be atm.

Ya ofc most ppl who play poker won't feel this way, as alot just love the game and alot intend to play poker as a full time job or whatever. I was just wondering if i am the only one who doesn't want to be doing this in a few years. Don't get me wrong, I think it is absolutely perfect for what i intend to do over the next couple of years (enjoy having little responsibilities, make some money, decide on further schooling) but once i'm older and ready to "settle down" i guess it isn't somethign i see myself doing at all.

I just wish i had the discipline to play for 5 hours a day. I think part of the problem is that i play HU, which is super intense and swingy and nothing at all like autopiloting 12 tables of FR (no offense to the n00bs that do this) so it takes alot out of you.

Yeah I can see how playing HU is a lot more 'stressful'. Loads more metagame/complex, marginal decisions to be made.

Everyone is different, and everyone's goals are to an extent different. The common theme is, we all want to make money.

I love playing poker, and I can pretty much play long extended hours on a regular basis. I think this year I have probably played almost everyday minus a week say. And I reckon I could easily play 5hrs+ a day.

If the games are still popular, and non-draconian laws are in place, then I can deffo see myself playing in 5yrs time. (in the hope I haven't gone busto)

Here's my summary of my poker year/month/week/day:

If you go to showdown, you lose 90% of pots that have >20bb's!

If you got to S/d with less than 20bb in pot, you may win 40%ish!

In conclusion: FOLD BEFORE S/D OR MAKE VILLAIN FOLD BEFORE S/D

EZ f'kin game or what!

Playing HU killed my mojo. I used to grind like 60k+ hands a month easy. Now I get annoyed at the thought of playing for more than a couple hours a day. I used to be able to just sit down and grind forever, now I'm constantly checking how many I hands I have in, waiting to quit. I don't know what it is, but it definitely started when I started playing a lot of HU and eventually led to me almost quitting poker for good.

My advice : Stop playing HU, it's soul crushing.

But you only need to play like half as many hands playing HU :p Sure it's more stressful but I enjoy it more than full ring or 6 max.

I think I just hate the variance, not the whole game. Was running like shit for a month back in March, started to tilt like a mother****er, lost more because of it, finally cooled myself down the last 10/15k hands or so, but am running like shit still. Just no fun.

That said, **** poker for tonight! Big pens/caps game!!! Booya to free CBC HD too, yay!!!
