I live in France now, but I'm Belgian, lived for 6 years in Switzerland, and before that some time in Boston and in Barcelona. And my football loyalties where settled for life while i was living there. :D

BTW, Barça has 6 players raised in the club on the field tonight. The only football superpower that can do that these days. Mes que un club.

Apart from the Villa!
Fair play I thought you were a glory supporter ;) Man you have travelled. I really want to go to switzerland and Belgium lol !

looks like the start of another amazing month. Another 200NL shot failed. Probably about my 7th try. Guess I just have to admit I will never be more than a 100NL and quit taking these stupid shots blowing half my profits.

I gotta admit this puts my situation in perspective. ;) I have a little -3BI -$14 night at 05nl and want to rip my jugular out. You can easily CBET on one flop what I lose in 3 hours. ;)

I wish you better runnings at the tables, but thanks for making me feel better. ;)

yeah, and he also 5bet bluffs you monthly winnings without a second thought.

that's the major reason you need to move up slowly. it takes time to loose your sensitivity to the amounts at play.

I am pretty sure if I get freaked out at 05nl then it's going to be pretty hard for me to ever play much higher.

I have little doubt that my A game can go much higher than 05nl, but I am not sure I can hold ONTO my A game...

I used to be... but not anymore.

But thing is.. I don't really mind. I am not nearly in the same class as all you guys in this thread. I single table and play more for fun than $$. I just like that I get some $$ with my fun ;) I am pretty sure my $$/hr over 50k hands is something like $6. ;)

You really do get de-sensitized to the money, though. It unfortunately doesn't happen until after you move up and log a few thousand hands at the new limit (at least not for me) but you do get there. I've won and lost quite a few four-figure pots, something that would have made me really freaked out a year ago - and now it doesn't really phase me, whereas the first four-figure pot I won made me rush down and tell Lori. Now, she's more interested in the monthly total than in any particular pot I win or lose. As am I.

Looking forward to making some serious $$ in May. I've been on a downswing from middle of Jan thru end of April and I really need a +ev not just for my bankroll but for my sanity! My tilt factor was +100% as of late from so many people hitting so many 1-4 outers on me, even with very poor odds to chase and between having some very bad luck and then horrible play from tilting my confidence level is way down.

I downloaded HEM but can't figure out how to get the hand histories done. I'm not puter savy and the manual explains it but I'm totally missing something.

On the plus side, May is starting out well, I won $147 at cash table at 50NL and $69 from mtts. I also cashed out $254 ahead last night from casino 1/2 nl.

Best of luck to all in May!

Same here.

The other tricky thing is to not let it de-sensitize you to money in your non-poker life. Just because you don't mind 5bet bluffing for $200 does not mean you can consider it an irrelevant amount when it's about food, rent and that kind of stuff.

btw, i tried playing a few hands at 400nl last week and i was super scared. Totally irrational. I think i need to log a few thousand hands more at 200nl before i try moving up, even if i'm decently rolled to take a shot.

Now that there's no prop bet I think I'm gonna take some time off and review hands and stuff for the next few days. I'm umpiring enough to basically pay for rent and some expenses and got enough in reserve that it's not like I immediately need to win and obv that mindset would get me playing bad anyway. I'm spewing a ton and it's all about my mindset. I know I'm good enough to win but I get in this short-term mindset and I'm getting too happy when I suck out or win a flip and too pissed when I lose a stack. There's just a voice in the back of my mind telling me that I'm not good enough to win anymore and every time I have a losing session or even breakeven session I keep getting pissed that maybe it's right. I know from the fact that I'm spewing a ton and still somehow won like 10 buy-ins last month that either I'm running amazingly good or I can actually win again if I quit doing stupid spew shit but I've just gotta restore confidence, and I think going over last month's hands, trouble spots, and just back to basic strategy again can help me a ton. Playing home game with WV tonight going to Nationals game tomorrow but then got plenty of time this week to go over hands.

Yea this (and what FP said) is pretty much how i view it as well. Losing/winning a $500-$1200 pot is pretty much whatever - i don't care either way. It has been many many many months since i was in the mode of "oh shit if i had won that $200 pot it would have been the equivalent of a 20' screen" or whatever. How much you consider a given amount of money ultimately comes down to your $$/hr over a LARGE sample. So if you win at $200/hr over 200k hands at 2/4, then $200 probably isn't that much to you. But if you play 5/10 and win at $30/hr, then $200 is alot more to you, even though you are routinely dealing with far larger swings/amounts of money in-game than the person at 2/4.

So basically, you quickly learn to disregard the individual bet amounts and "stack amount" and focus on your bottom line. But you definitely learn to deal with losing alot more money easily. As i have said somwhere here before, I am better at losing an $800 pot now than i was at losing an $8 pot when i started. When i was playing nl100 i COULD NOT BELIEVE how this guy i know could handle losing $1000+ at a time playing 5/10, but now that i've played up to nl400 i realise that it actually isn't that hard at all once you are used to it.

Every night. Seriously there were less hot chicks there than in Antwerp. And it was Spring time, we went to bars every night and a discotheque the last day there. Some bartenders were pretty hot though :p

Oh and I don't know if we saw any on the first night there as it was st. paddys and my memory pretty much stops there.

u must have done something wrong because my friend and i went to la rambla and then clubbing afterwards and picking up girls was easier than winning a pot with T987ds in PLO, 6 handed, on the button..

then again ur not nearly as good looking as me
