Has anyone purposely went out on the bubble to get the money in a ticket tournament?

No, not really. Rather have the highest value than purposely lose for less. Not sure I have ever had a tournament type that was setup that way. Played satellite that interest me, because of the tickets.

I have tried but I can't remember if I succeeded. It would have probably been in a situation where I would not have been able to play in the target tourney or the money was almost what the ticket would be worth.

It was like 27.50 the bubble and then the ticket was worth like a hundred and eleven . I won the ticket but I thought about it.

I have - if I recall correctly the top two places won a ticket while the third won cash. I didn't particularly want to play the tournament so I took the 3rd place cash.

Now you may ask:
(Q) Why was I in the sat in the first place?
(A) I didn't realize it was a sat when I registered.
PS - there wasn't a lot of difference between the 3rd place cash prize and the 1st/2nd ticket value.

I always try to win a ticket, and not drag out for money.

I often intend to get money instead of a ticket when that ticket is not the ticket to be able to use in a money tournament immediately. You have to play many satellite tournaments to get the final ticket. So, I just try to get money if possible instead of spending much time to get the final ticket.

Isn't that easy.. risk/reward

VENOM @ ACR, for example. Make it, get ticket to get to step 3, I believe. If you finish 23, or some other random place, you win 42 cents. I already had the step 3 ticket, so I was going for 23rd place.
summary, I didn't make 23rd, it was much harder to thread the needle, place-wise, than to make the top of the ladder. If I didn't already have the ticket, I play for the ticket. Who wants pennies, when they can win $$ with the next step ticket?

Normally not, I play low levels, I have been in that situation and many times I have to see that many go all in to keep the money, I always prefer the entrance, if they were high levels, I would think, but in the same way many go all in:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:the situation depends but they go all in when almost the ticket accumulates and those situations are what I have lived

Yes, ACR awhile back had a bunch of freeroll Sat tickets. That ladder up. If the ticket value was close to the ticket value, bubble makes a lot more sense.

Hello.
I think the amount of money you can get this way will always be less than the equivalent of the ticket price, so I do not see the point in such actions.

It has happened before, but it is not typical of me. There is too little money compared to the ticket. I don't think it's worth it.

I think it depends of the tournament. But yes, I already tried a few times (usually on freerolls), but now always had success because most of the times others players wants the same thing.

Sometimes there are prizes for tickets and money and intensionally I have preferred to lose to keep the money, so you can use it to play another tournament of your choice with cash.

Sometimes when the cash is almost the prize of the ticket, it makes sense. You have to know that others will try as well so you almost have to be a shorter stack.

it depends. with the ticket, am i forced to play the $111 mtt? or can i use the t$ to buy into smaller games? if it's the latter, then i'll happily take the ticket.

but if i'm forced to play the $111 mtt, i'd rather go for the $27.50 in cash because that's a decent number of buy-ins at the microstakes. i'd rather be able to play multiple smaller buy-ins mtts than one large buy-in mtt.

I never enter tournament prizes where tickets are offered if I am looking for the cash to have. I do not really understand the reasoning behind doing this because you are purposely going out of you way to not get the full value for your play, time, and effort.

I would recommend only playing cash prize tournaments so that your value is consistent through your time in tournaments.

I have never actually done that yet but have considered and would consider it again. The cash is a sure thing, tickets on the other hand are for a larger prize but you still have to work in another tournament and it may not pan out the way you hope. Maybe you won't have time to play that particular tournament. Depends are your own circumstances.

Money

When sitting on the bubble and far away for any leaders I have gone all in to try to get the money VS the ticket being offered. Seems a lot of times the money is close the ticket price. With the money I can play at cash tables and hopefully make more from it :)))))))

Cheers All :D

I have seen it a lot, as soon as the ticket bubble hits and the money for the bubble is half or more the ticket value... allins from half the players left in.

I’ve done this before. I’d personally rather have the money in hand then to have to play a particular tournament. I never play in these type of tournaments for this reason, my play time is limited so unless the ticket is say for any $10 tournament as opposed to a specific tournament, I’d rather take the cash.

I always take the ticket as I don`t know this option to pay it out in 888 poker? Don`t they have pure satellites at all?

Yeah I have in Unibet Open step satellites. It's the only way to get the money to actual use unless you 100% sure you want to try to win multiple steps all the way into that 2000€ package.
