I thought this was going to be in line with like views of Dan Colman and many others who like the fact that they're good at this "game" and that it has made them rich, but dislike the fact that they're literally taking money from other people to accomplish this.

THAT'S the moral dilemna, if there is one.

Nutcracker69 said:
That was actually the point. I'm surprised you missed it. He gave TWO interviews. The first he called himself an immoral human being and the opposite of a role model or ambassador for the game. The 2nd interview was when he won Kara Scott had to basically beg him to say a couple words and it was very brief and meaningless. He didn't even seem happy. Like more glad to have bested Negreanu head's up than he was that he just took home like 20m.

Generically speaking, people who play poker, in casinos or online, for real money, are understood to know the risks that come with wagering money, on games with a large skill component or otherwise. It is the responsibility of every poker player to avoid taking money from those who are not equipped to take those risks, i.e. the addicted, who wager more than they can afford, and the underaged, who are not considered to be mature enough and perhaps even wager money online that is not their own.

Otherwise, you know the risks, you know you can lose, and you know what you can lose. By putting your chips on the table anyway, you accept these conditions. There is nothing immoral about winning money via poker from someone for whom this is the case.

I thought you meant moral in the bigger collective sense, is it moral to be fighting and taking resources from someone else? To me the answer would be no. But this is what we do collectively on all levels in society. Especially where I live in the U.S. So within this immoral system, it's just another means of taking money from others in a zero sum game.

Another example of a clearly wasted post by me. Someone asks a question, I come up with the ONLY example of a high-profile player who questions the morality of the game and his rationale and there are 24 posts in here now with like one responding to me. It's like you guys just want to blah blah blah and not have actual discourse because you ignore the only good post here and spout the same nonsense that the other 23 already stated.

Dont fret it Nut, most people do not read the threads they just post their opinions and move on, however I do and thats all that matters, to me at least

Well for me playing poker it's not any kind of problem at all.. I can control myself. I agree it's gamble. But it's up to you would it harm you and people around you. Self control is everything just don't let gambler "inside" of you to come out (than it's huge issue).

Perhaps they just weren't used to seeing something like that posted below your name & just assumed it was more rigged nonsense or some other trivial drivel.

I do have moral issues with rigged nonsense - mostly due to the lack of education in this world

Not directed at you but Poker Oracle. I love how these people think that "anything goes" online and they can say whatever they'd like. I also greatly appreciate the fact that these comments are stored online forever making it much easier for an attorney or law enforcement to easily access them.

how can law enforcement access a public forum that does not require ID for an account for any reason except to learn about poker?

I've played a lot of freerolls with Poker Orifice, so I'd be willing to testify against him in your lawsuit. Let me know when you need me... :albertein

I don't even understand your question. Do you think there are no members on here that are in law enforcement? I'm totally confused.

again, why do we care if they can 'access them'?, what are they gaining access to besides bad poker advice? now I'm the one confused

At a minimum I already have proof of public slander. But they can keep talking and see what else we can rack up.

hah! my point exactly. there is no proof of anything in here - plus don't think you can sue a Serbian for slander if you're in USA or any other country...plus cant prove who anyone is, plus most of the countries these people are from I doubt slander is even against the law - that's my point....toooo funny

plus slander? do you even know what that word means? haven't seen anything slanderous in here

It's really hard win a slander suit , even for movie stars. :D I mean, can you imagine being the attorney approached with this suit?I think you would have to pay a sir charge for wasting his time,or he'd pay you for the entertainment.

" The plaintiffs won 52 percent of the 12,000
jury trials"

"Juries awarded about $2.7 billion in
compensatory and punitive damages in the 6,200
successful cases, with a median award of $52,000
and an average award of $455,000. Twenty-two
percent of the awards exceeded $250,000, while 8
percent topped $1 million."

Yep, couldn't disagree more. But, in fairness, I should correct myself, as I wasn't paying attention to what I was typing, as I'm in a slander and defamation case against a celebrity at the moment.

In THIS case, it is libel and defamation, not slander, as it is written and not oral, so my bad on that.

libel or defemation can not be opinion as far as I remember - so good luck there

plus prove who said it, and that anyone cares (has to be damaging), and that you have a good rep to begin with, and that its not true - goooood luck

he's an idiot who thinks he can sue anybody (boy we got a lot of them at our poker rooms) - is opinion and nothing you can do about it

whatever man, people always leave when I call them out and they have no proof of their claims- thats fine

if you are scared to post what law you think you can use, with specifications, then please do leave, id love to hear it though, i just dont think it exists along with not able to prove who anyone is - how would you do this?

calling someone an idiot is not a 'false statement of fact' - because its impossible to prove either way because its an opinion
plus, how does this tarnish your rep on an anonymous site since no one knows who you are?
also what damage is done? your not losing money or stature

answer these questions and Ill call you a God!

certainly in the game with a lot of money there is passion, as in smoking a greater risk of getting cancer, a reasonable man must decide for himself, admit himself into the game passion, exactly how to smoke or not to smoke

Sports betting and the stock market seem kinda the same in many ways to me...poker is alright though...imo. Id say its kept me out of more trouble and been a good stand in vice instead of something else. I also enjoy the communitys that are around and such.
