Not sure what would be the exact best thing but I would say it is having a good mind set in playing the game. If your mind it not ready for the roller coaster that poker can be when variance is punching you in the mouth you can start making bigger issues for you game.

I think the most important quality of a poker player is the ability to control his emotions. I know a person who constantly communicates with everyone at the poker table, tells interesting stories, smiles at everyone, and at the same time he can play out 10 9 offsuit and AA in exactly the same way. This person does not show at all that he is nervous, and it is almost impossible to understand with which hand he entered the game. He plays poker professionally in our city and it’s a pleasure to watch him play. I think those players who are afraid to show their emotions usually play with a stone face.
