Frankly I don't look for motivation. If it is needed you probably have a greater interest that you should follow. It's a hobby for me, but I'd really rather be getting more exercise. Perhaps I'll put my computer on a treadmill.

Friends my motivation to play poker is to get entertainment with the lowest cost possible.

Poker is a challenge for me and an opportunity to really analyze my choices. I work to improve my game constantly and to really consider whether each play I make is the best I could do. That way, I'm competing against myself.
Also, there's a certain rush from knowing you outplayed someone and got them to play into your hands that you can't get from other games.

I would say the money is one of the main reasons but a close second is the aspect of gambling. My brain is wired to love Gambling and what better way to gamble than to play no limit Texas holdem

. I would not be motivated to play a friendly poker game with no money involved.
