I'm starting to use music when I'm in tournaments and I see I'm starting to get nervous, I can improve my focus and have better emotional control.

I'm playing stuff like movie soundtracks, sounds of a rain/fireplace, or really calm electronic music, something that is just a nice calming background creating a good atmosphere but not distracting me.

I listen to music while I play. Mostly rock. It doesn't help me play the game any better but I like it though.

Personally, I'm distracted by music from the game, if it's very emotional. I start to play more aggressively because of this and make more mistakes. Sometimes I can watch some kind of video on YouTube and play poker at the same time, but this rarely happens when I do not play several tables at once)

I don't like lisening to music while I play because, I like to hear the talk around the table when a hand
is played so mabye I can pick up a tell.

I only listen to music when playing online and I think that it can help you stay focused if you choose the right music...I would not got to a live game with headphones on though.... I think that in a live game it distracts me too much from reading other players

Generally yes to music, as to what kind of music I find "simpler music" such as Miles Davis Kind of Blue over Bitches Brew.

I will sometimes also listen to a podcast while I play, but I admit it could be detrimental.

Good question.

I like to listen to music when I play less than 3 tables. Then I often listen to calm music like casino music or even to the "Winnetou theme".

When I play more than three tables and listen to music I often feel uncomfortable and tend to be distracted.
