Martin Scorsese, definitely a great director, one of the best. I think it will be a good film worth our attention.

Spectacular. All the poker-related movies worth watching, hopefully it lives up to "Rounders"

Looking forward to it - "pay the sons-of-a-b***h his money". Wish John Malkovich was in it too.

Martin Scorsese presents the film but Paul Schrader wrote and directed it, not Scorsese. Schrader is a great director regardless. It looks good, stars Oscar Isaac and Willam Defoe.

But....counting cards playing poker???

Martin Scorsese is the executive producer of the film, which means that he has participation in the creation of the film, now it is true that Paul Schrader wrote it but directed it with Martin Scorsese.

Regarding the counting of cards, it is the name of the film, but if you see the summary of the trailer you will realize that the protagonist learned to count cards in prison and entered the world of Poker and perhaps with that ability he became more easy to play poker.

Actually, you would have to wait for the movie to start and see the ending and the movie plot to clarify your doubt, although poker players also have that ability to count cards just like blackjack 21 players.

I'll watch it, that's for sure. Sounds like it will be more 'actioney' than poker, but still totally a poker movie.

Yeah, title sounds more like blackjack, but we all count cards when we play poker, maybe some just don't realize they're doing it.

No, there is no information to say that Scorsese co-directed the movie that I can find.

I checked the Imdb page and all Scorsese is credited with is presenting. Further as I checked the Imdb I read the synopsis of the film and am already aware of the themes and various stories that weave through the film. So I know in the plot he learned to count cards in prison. But the climax to the film is a purported attempt to win the wsop...so again, I just find 'The Card Counter' an odd title when the film is patently based around poker.

Yes, it is a skill he learns in the story but I still find it a little jarring as a title.

Greetings colleague, here I will leave you a link to find out and read what is the participation and role of Martin Scorsese in this new movie of (poker drama) where he collaborates and works with the director Paul Schrader in the creation of this new film called "the card counter"

Same here. What I read about it is that Martin Scorsese was one of the executive producers and apparently helped Paul Schrader with some parts of the movie. And that seems to be the extent of Scorsese's involvement in the movie.

I understand that it had been correct to put Paul Schrader as writer and have Martin Scorsese as executive producer and presenter, but I got carried away by the credits of the introduction of the movie trailer and I only noticed the name of Martin Scorsese and maybe It looks like I am detracting from the film's writer in this case, which is Paul Scharader, but even so, Martin Scorsese helped and collaborated in the creation of this film as an executive producer.

anyway thanks for correcting, I tried to edit it later to put the name of Paul Schrader in the details of the information about this movie but I couldn't do it.

I watched the trailer, and it looks really good.

Somehow, it seems like most people who reach that level, live quite the life.

Have to ask Daniel, and Phil about the number of times they've been socked in the face.
