If i had that kind of money i would never depo it on a poker site lol I would play micro/mid limit games. And even if i wanted to play for that much cash i certainly wouldn't put it up against Phil Ivey :/

The difference between a pro poker player, online or live is like the difference between a weekend hack and a PGA Tour pro. You may play on the same field, but you are no where near in the same league.

I don't really understand any of the logic here. If Ivey wasn't a tremendous force in any kind of poker, why would seemingly every pro give him major respect? And somehow all the years of poker experience he has doesn't translate online?

If you played for a year straight 8 hours a day 15 tabling you wouldn't have close to the volume he has played i'm willing to bet. Somebody has been watching rounders too much.

I wouldn't be able to play ivey heads up the blinds he plays sometimes is bigger then my bank roll on both sites. Btw don't watch pros play online line all u'll do is get ur hopes up and one day u might be able to play a pro on a low stakes table but most likey will end up donating to them or someone else at the table ur hole bank roll. < seen it happen many times and then people ask for there money back.

That is an extremely bad example. I am saying that I would have to beat the next highest stakes HUNL for a decent winrate before then in order to be rolled for it. And I am pretty sure that the regs who beat that game could beat Ivey HU over a big enough sample. Meaning if I was playing at that level I would be able to win for around the same winrate.

It's funny to me how a pro can push with junk and he/she gets praised for a canny and cunning play. "What a read." But when anybody else does it they're a donk.

Fair comment, but the whole point of this threas was hypothetical, and Evertonyorkie responded to that in a hypothetical way. Only for people to get on his case because he painted a scenario whereby he felt he would stand a chance.

The blokes entitled to an opinion, and he doesnt deserve someone telling him basically to grow up and stop dreaming when all hes doing is offering his opinion on what COULD happen if his dream came true..

Referring back to the analogy about sportsmen, the best sportsmen never stay the best forever, and why is that ? Its because the younger ones come in, they train, they play the game building up to the same level, and then they surpass what were the best previously.. You arent telling me Phil Ivey was born the best and could play at that level since he first started. Of course he didnt. He got where he is by climbing the ranks. Exactly the scenario the lad painted, which you decided to get all flippant and insulting about...

1. i dont have 100 mil because im 18 and havent had a full time job yet because iv been in education and going to uni for 4 years so i wont for another 4 years. Also if i personally had 100 mil i wouldnt play phil ivey id do something alot more interesting.

2. the guy said he would have the advantage over Ivey which if you dont think is hilarious then just lol

3. I know about sportsmen 3 of my best mates play rugby professionally and 1 has played for England since we were 16's so i know how it goes.

Ive watched a few of the death matches and it seems Ivey steamrolls everyone he plays...If I had a 250k+ bankroll I would absolutely play him, but let's get for real. Phil is one of if not the best player in the world imo.

You obviously don't watch him a lot. I must say I have never sat there and watched him play for more than 5 minutes but according to high stakes DB he is down around 15 BIs in the last 9 months. Although 15BIs isn't a lot, Ivey isn't one of the regular grinders who play all day every day either.

personally, if i had the bankroll, i would play the games that provide the best way for me to win money. with any pro, it would almost be suicide to play them at their best game, so the key to MAYBE getting a "W" i think would be to catch them at a table in a game that they do not play on a regular basis. granted it would probably not matter, but that would probably be the best chance of winning some money off a pro ie. you are very good at say 7 stud h/l and that is the pro's worst game.

phil ivey is one of the top poker players in the world and that is live or online.
I dont understand the people saying he donks , if you look at all the pros play in order to win the big tournaments u have to play some questionable hands at times in order to build your chip stack . In other words u limp with bs and it hits and someone calls u a donkey.
