I think there are a lot of categorical answers to this question. In general, I agree that alcohol impairs judgement. For me, knowing I'm a little buzzed makes me pay a little closer attention, and maybe I don't act as instantly, which makes my game a little better.

From experience never start drinking from the first hand. If you do manage to go deep you are a little too loose. Start about half way and it makes the later hands less hard to swallow when you get those bad beats. If you get eliminated early at least you saved money on not buying drinks.

Just now im reading doyles brunsos book and he says that he is not to much of a drinker, but he never drinks while playing.
I sometimes play some games but its a sure thing i play it worse.. i think that when you kind of master the game it will become easier because you are already very good, but while learning i dont recommend.

I will have one drink to help me settle in, but drunk or even buzzed is not how I play.
I worry about those that think they make better decisions when they are.

I think being drunk you make bad decisions or you think you are invincible and such! You can drink but control yourself

Iv'e asked this question a well on here. I put it to the test last night, after coming home from the bar after a few drinks with some mates, i'd not say I was drunk, drunk, but I had a good few and was pretty tipsy. I'd decided to play and multi table at that, bad mistake, i lost 6 buy-in's from my bankroll, in an hour, I made some real poor calls, i found myself chasing a lot, calling quite expensive bets to hit that straight or flush, even chasing sets, just madness. Depending on the circumstances, it's not something i would insta-click on when sober.

When you play poker under the influence of alcohol one thing is for sure, you will go broke. It has been scientifically proven that the consumption of alcohol alters our nervous system and affects our reactions and also affects our perception, so please don't drink if you are going to play.

Alcohol is bad. I don't recommend playing drunk. You may not notice how you lose your entire bankroll.

Well if you are a person who likes to have a few drinks from time to time and you like to get drunk for fun and at the same time enjoy a game of poker, I don't see the problem, now you have all your economic hopes in the game, it will be you better have another drink because you already lost hehehe, the only bad thing is that when you are drunk we know that some get a little annoying and others aggressive and others simply happy and enjoy, we hope you are of this particular case, greetings

THE WORST THING a player can do!!!

I should know, I do it all the time....LOL

But I do have fun doing it. I will say though there was one night I could not lose.

I deposited $50 for fun with no BR management and I ran it up to $900 and some change in a few hours. It was a blast....:)

I don't play drunk because I can't think clear enough. I end up making silly bets and lose.

Alcohol inhibits your ability to make good decisions. However, it is very dependent on how much you drink and how much self-control you can maintain after a few drinks. Boredom, in my opinion, hampers judgment significantly more than a few beers.

When you're bored, you start playing more hands, fidget and get restless. This would have significantly more of an impact on many people's games than a couple of beers.

I feel that drinking a couple of drinks helps me play longer games since it reduces boredom. When I'm stone cold sober, I play marginally better in shorter games. I never get intoxicated when I drink.

Will never play poker impaired again. Costly mistake made years ago playing multiple $30.00 triple ups on Bovada. Easy wins, Liquid courage had me increase to $100.00 triple ups. I haven't had a beer since. =:pcguru:

the most important thing when drinking alcohol is not to fall asleep during an important hand))) well, drinking in small doses can add vigor and you will 3-bet much more often)

I think exactly the same. Alittle drunk can help play more aggresive, confident with better skills. Too much alcohol towards you to defeat.
