I have been living on the income from the game of poker for many years now! It's not so difficult if you think with your head and don't chase extra income!

Of course you can live from Poker. There are many who do. But it's like you say, you have to be really good to live on it. For now I only play recreationally and thus earn some extra money which is very helpful.

No you cant rely on poker solely

ioriyamatano said:
Could playing poker be seen as a way to generate income to live comfortably? Could you spend the rest of your life playing poker and never worry about having a job again?

I know a lot of experience is needed. But don't think you can make a living from poker.

No you cant just rely on poker for income. You can play correct all the time and still lose. To make it you would have to get very lucky in the beginin then like all other high stakes players you would have to get income from owning a business or just a regular job. If you pay attention to the big games you notice that ppl are lucky for a couple years then you never see them anymore.lotta players have gone bust and wonder why when its just as simple as poker is gamling.

Poker is a game. The factor of luck is from the main factors. This means that you will invest in luck also! Anyway in the long term the game can give a profit and as our improvement grows the profit can grow also!

If you generate enough to meet your needs, I suppose it can be seen as a business.
On the other hand, I'm sure it's a good deal for casinos, online rooms, and live streaming sites.
And sometimes for many it is just a fun hobby.

I know people who earn consistently good money in poker for their lives and have not been worried about work for several years but it is not easy as it seems in reality

Poker can be a job, hobby, investment but I don't think it is a business unless you coach or create a backing site.

You definately still can. If you treat it like a job and put in the time then the opportunity is still there to make a living. With enough work and study you can still make a pretty comfortable living. Most people just expect to put in less hours than a normal job and the truth is you probably have to put in more :)

Depends on what you call business, if you want steady income at the end of every month, then maybe not. Since in poker you have variability, you might have good runs and bad runs, so it may not be a reliable source of income.
However, given the statistics and the numbers behind poker, if you keep making +EV decisions, in the long run, you'll be profitable.

In theory it could be a business..

In theory, poker could be a business. It would be interesting to know how many pro poker players earn a living only from poker. Some as top pro golfers, for example, make more in guaranteed endorsements, than tournament earnings.
In poker, are there any guarantees for the lower stakes common player?
With a guaranteed source of income, a poker player could play, as a side business, where profit/loss is not everything.

Yeah you could considerate a business but you’d have to put the time in and be well aware of the risks, just like any business really

Another risky way would be to stake a few players that you know are good and try and make money that way.
