I'm not sure why people feel the need to turn game that is generally played sitting on your ass into a sport... but no poker is not a sport it's a game of skill, patience and endurance😎👍

define sport first: Any activity between more then one individual consisting of competition of skill, luck and physical endurance.
Is poker physical? I say yes, sitting for hours is gruelling not to mention the mental fitness you must maintain to win.

Of course you can, there is a competitive moment, there are prizes and cups, you only need a contribution to participate :)

Can chess be considered a sport? Poker is essentially very similar to chess, where almost everything is decided by skill, and those who constantly train and learn win. Also, poker has an element of competition and competition as in most sports, players can play in many tournaments and win first places for which they get medals, cups and solid money, just like in professional sports. I would only classify poker as a mental sport.
No, that's ludicrous. Years ago when I was playing there was a campaign to have chess recognised as a sport. It was a wheeze to get funding, and I never supported it.

Poker is played by smart people who want to outplay their opponents with their intelligence. And the gamblers are sitting somewhere on roulette or in a casino. If we consider chess a sport, then poker, by the same logic, can be equated to a sport.

Can Poker be considered a sport?!. By my opinion, can be... Because for play in the different kinds of Poker necessary at once the many,
as physical, so and in the same time mental Skills: general good health, patience, bending mind, strong nervous system, intuition, and etc!..

Chess has been recognised as a sport in more than 100 countries, and the International Olympic Committee made it an official sport in 1999. But even then, chess was not included in the Olympic Games programme. This sport is not the only one that was not included in the Olympics. There are also intellectual games for such activities.

it definitely is. but it is a mental sport at the level that chess is, although there are a large number of people who believe otherwise, those of us who are in this world know very well that it is a mental sport.

For me, I consider sports only outdoor sports, such as football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, and poker can be considered an intellectual sport, such as checkers, chess, and there are also e-sports, then poker is also a sport, but in another podcast

I don't think so, poker is more like lottery or bingo, I often lose with AA and KK against someone who pays me with J10, how is this a sport?

it's a bit like asking if playing video games is a sport. Poker is more about thinking and strategy than running around like in soccer. So, it's not a sport in the traditional sense, but it's still a cool game that people take seriously. Keep having fun while you learn!

I dont think of poker as a sport. With no physical activity affecting the game I just can't call it a sport. It is a mind game and based on skills you can grow or acquire.
