Very much so. I started playing tourneys a bit recreationally in the early 2000s, Though I played very little, I probably won at least 25% of the tourneys I did enter. Now it is extremely hard to win a tourney, though I play much better.

Poker knowledge is widely available and many take advantage of this.

So, yes, poker is getting harder to beat in the respect that more and more players are informing themselves.

I recently started playing again and noticed that at times it became difficult to play even in freerolls

I agree that modern online poker requires more real-time calculations and great psychological skill, and the RNG is constantly ready to f..ck you

I have impression the players are playing better the ABC Poker, however I see a lot of mistakes and bad plays in the table, I believe due the massification of Poker you have a lot of players playing what increases the variances and this may let the game more difficult, however is hard to assume the game is becoming more dificult.

The biggest difference I see is that Loose Aggressive is much, much more common. I can find myself at a table of 8/9 with all but one playing Loose, and maybe all but 2 Loose Aggressive and this is common. Another difference is that in the past things like suited connectors were usually played in late position when no raises to get pot value, but now they are played almost as if they were AA - with massive raises (usually allin) or calling allins from any position - they seem to be the holy grail now.

At the moment, in my opinion, poker has become a little more complicated than when I started playing it. But it is not so complicated now that it would somehow worry about it. People will play. If someone leaves, someone else will come in his place, because many still think that online poker is easy and fast money. For example, you can give a list of people who got rich thanks to the casino, and if my age does not change, then the list is not that long, about 20 people. But people continue to come and play at the casino in the hope that they and only they will be lucky today. And online poker will have the same story. Of course, traffic will fall and there is nothing terrible here and the strongest rooms will survive, and maybe small ones on the contrary.

Maybe you are right but you must remember that poker skills are only one of pieces to win a tournament. I mean if you don't have luck in this game you are not gonna win a game.

Wish I could tell but can't since I've been only playing for a couple years or so.

From I what I hear is that there's way more strategies (like before it was rare to see a 3bet at the felt.)

And also with the Internet there's more access to information and tools to practice and learn.

So even though I haven't been out there for long I believe it has gotten hard.

Rules haven't changed, it is the same game as it always was. Over the years players are more aggressive and the quality of those players are better. With that said, I don't feel it is harder just changing. Have to adapt, improve the skill set and over come aggressive players.

it feels like players on PokerStars are becoming too gamble-like. happy to get it in after a 4-bet with 10-9 off on a 35%-65% and don't care because well 'there's always more tournaments' but I prefer smaller sites as they don't have the same donkey feel.

Wouldnt say difficult but i think people are going all in with silly hands. I understand the logic ‘believe in your hands’ if you think you have something good but find it difficult when people go all in. Still a poker newbie so may take time i guess!

To this day you can have a degree of difficulty, but poker simply gets longer because every day it gets fuller in each room because in the end you have full tables where you could see different styles.
