In my homeland in brazil poker was not very well known, only a small number of specific players played it I myself met through movies and since then I started to get interested and now I've been playing for a few years and I'm very happy because it's a sport healthy and profitable as well as fun, what is poker like in your region and which country are you playing from?

In the town where I live there are very few people who play poker, I think we did not reach 5 people. But in general here in Venezuela there are many players, there are even groups on social networks where we can help each other

Haven't met that Germans at the tables yet ... I just don't see Poker as being a popular pastime here as maybe in other countries.

Hello to all.
I'm from Russia, we have live poker tournaments only in one place, there is a ban in the country, as well as online in the ban, but judging by social networks, poker is gaining popularity

Must be tough in some countries
In Canada And USA poker got big when the NHL hockey went on strike back in the day
Countless poker rooms and freerolls became a pastime and it was easy to make US dollars
As a global forum, I now realize $10-20 dollars can mean so much to people in South America/Russia and around the world…
I spend $15 on a pack of smokes, bag of weed a small sack of beer or a meal…I’ve never worried about making money to survive off a game, and how it could be so life altering
I’ve invested so much time trying to be a zero to hero poker player but only for fun, I do miss the live games, and even the few casinos near me there’s no real poker games
Popularity is not what it was but still players out here, not booming like a decade ago…

'Haven't met that MANY Germans [...]
Missed a word there. Sorry for quoting and repeating myself, but I still haven't figured out how to edit your own posts yet.

EDIT: Ironically enough, just NOW there appears a big red Edit button below my post. Seeing it for the first time, maybe it's there because I've crossed a certain post count threshold by now.

No doubt poker is popular in Russia, there are always a lot of russian players at every online game. But is there really online ban in Russia?

Maybe you never worried about it because your country offers a lot of opportunity and it has a decent salary for those who work here in Brazil the situation is very sad because everything is very expensive and what we earn at work is barely enough to feed ourselves is a sad reality

Back in the days

I agree, these days Poker isn't that famous in Germany. There was a time though (around 2006-08) when things were different, back then I had known a lot of people who were playing Poker, even with their pals at home.

I live in Portugal. But to be honest, I have no idea about the poker "ambiance" here in Portugal. Considering the current economics I figure it's not a widespread sport of election...
