Seriously though, any time a wager of some kind is placed based on a probabilistic outcome, then it is gambling of some form. By this logic poker is considered gambling: yet I will also note that some players gamble more recklessly than they should. Good poker play is, among other things, about good risk management skills.

I don`t think poker is gambling, because it is a strategy game, and it needs maths and also it needs luck. Luck is not the more serious factor. If you play by luck, I think the results will be unpleasant!

I think that poker is certainly a gambling game: it involves wagering of money and elements of luck and uncertainty.

I think what you're referring to is how much risk is involved, and thru skillful play we can certainly decrease risk and minimize the 'gambling' component of the game.

But that doesn't change that at it's root, this is a game of chance which falls into the gambling spectrum :fight:

Any activity where you can multiply or lose your invested value is a gamble. We can certainly consider poker a gamble, but isn't it a bigger gamble to start a business venture with an uncertain outcome than to play poker for play money?

When I go to a restaurant, I know I am going to be out some money. Poker is gambling. So when I go out, I may lose some money or I may win some money. Going out to eat, I will not come home with as much as I left the house with. Going out for poker, gambling, I can come home broker or richer.

I think, Poker is such kind of activity, that connects in yourself in the same time, as an intellectual, developing game with an one side, unpredictableness and excitement with another side, because Poker is a card game, so a game with unaccurate information... Poker is not chess or checkers, therefore in Poker many depends from Lady Luck and other different psychological factors, and knowledge is only one part successful play in Poker. Hence in Poker can win absolutely the different people, but the all depends from concrete situations...

It is part of poker the gambling........When you allin pre-flop.....never mind the cards.....it is a gamble........and if is AA vs 23 off.........AA are not 100 % the winner.....so it is part of gamble....
