I personally don't believe that it is, yes, money is involved in this game, but there are other games and tournaments that also involves money. Also unlike typical casino games like Blackjack, more skill than luck is involved to do well in this game.
I'm curious to hear what you guys think.
I have never entered a
poker game thinking about the money I could win, for me it is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours socialising with people that enjoy the game as much as I do.
At my local where I used to play every week, we had a £5.00 buy-in and we could be playing for around 3 hours, compared to a football match or film at the cinema which would last around 90 minutes, and cost a hell of a lot more than £5.00. I think of it as a cheap way of passing the time with friends.
Gambling? Sure it is, but so is crossing the road's, It only becomes a problem when you start chasing money you have already lost, trying to win it back, then you are on a slippery slope that leads one way. Down!
