In the short-run or a few hands, it will be luck. The longer you play and give yourself a 1% or 2% edge, over thousands of hands it turns into a game of skill.

I think luck is a big part of poker, because for example you can loose all in with kk against a hand like a6. But in my opinion skill have the bigger part at poker. I think I have won the most matches because of my skill and not really out of luck. I think I was more patient than lucky.

This is an old debatable issue.

I would say POKER is 60% skills and 40% luck.

I consider above "in the long run" and not short terms.

Definitely on the side of skill more so than luck! Phil hellmuth hasn't gotten lucky and ended up with 13 wsop bracelets, sure he may have had some luck on a hand or two but skill will generally always be the main factor even if you are playing a All in or Fold touney~

luck plays a factor for sure, but if your playing for the long run, skill is what pays you in the end.

Poker is a game of looking objectively primarily skills. Of course, if you do not have luck never win. But the variance affects the game so that time is on our side, one after the other. In poker, the point to take advantage of your opponents mistakes. Poker is a game of skill, remember that!

There is no such thing as luck (fabricated). Every thing is based on the law of probability. The world revolves around math and the sooner we as poker players realize that the better we become. Don't spend your life chasing luck it isn't there.

It is a mathematical game, based on probability. However, the likelihood, however great, does not guarantee victory (unless the probability is 100%). Thus, the more a person has mastered the techniques and more likely to win a hand, the long run has a greater tendency to win.

When you can accurately define luck, we can then perfectly assign percentages.

Skill might be be how you defy luck, and get away with it (or not).

There are many opinions on this topic but...the most prevalent and I think the correct..is a game that depends on both aspects...

you definitely need luck to you between a good hand..but if you can not manage good hands .. (as good and weaknesses)..

and of course your bankroll...you will not make money from poker

Agreed. I have played poker on/off for a while, but never seriously studied odds? Any suggestions where I should start my research.
