At first I think like everyone enters the sun to win, and try their luck more than anything, after time I realized that the times you lose and win are very even, I mean, you have to be very lucky if you do not dedicate yourself to this completely, that I think, now I play just for fun and to relax a bit with a drink

The Cardschat freerolls make poker fun. To generate money from nothing gives me a buzz and has paid for a few items such as an ipad and a big screen television over the years.
My actual passion is for horse racing.

Lol to win, yes its a hobby but part of the reason I even play is it gets my competitive juices flowing like sports used to and I like the challenge of constantly working to improve to master it

I think it's a lot more fun if it's just a hobby. Getting serious can be very stressfull. And who knows maybe you get really lucky some days and you make some extra bucks!

Playing as a hobby does not mean that you do not run to win. I think the big difference is that a person can play recreational or can play professionally. For me, for example, I play as a hobby but I always try to win.

Regardless, poker is fun to play. If I haven’t played in a while, it’s like an itch I need to scratch

It's kinda like golf -- even the recreational players want to get better and better.

I play the game because I enjoy it.
Part of the reason I enjoy it is that I make money -- not a lot, but enough that I still like it.

Play for fun, entertainment.

I play seriously, but only for as long as it's fun. If I'm off, for whatever reason, no poker, time to devote myself to a different diversion, add some variety. It is a worthwhile hobby, keeps you thinking, mentally aware.

Hobby or winning

Poker is one of my hobbies but lets not kid ourselves we all want to win. Like any hobby you play because it is fun. What ever hobby I am playing or doing you give it your best. When I play poker I love to win and when I am reading a book I am enjoying myself for peace of mind not to win but to relax. It is all connected so enjoy. Capo1014

I made a big mistake in my life when I considered poker as my hobby. If I had taken poker more seriously from the very beginning, I would have been a wealthy person long ago! But for the good, I have a lot of experience that will not allow me to play outside the bankroll and make gross mistakes.

I think the correct approach is to take the best decisions with the information provided, and hope to not get screwed in the process.
Taking the best decision may make you lose the pot in the end, but statistically speaking, in the long run you should win more than you lose given that your decisions are well taken.
So I'd say it should start as a hobby, and once you get better at the game, you'll start winning more than you lose.
