In my country, poker is an illegal game for some reason! Tell me how is poker in your country and if it is not legal in your country how do you feel about it?

Poker is allowed in my country. Moreover, in my country poker is officially recognized as a sport. And personally, I also believe that poker is a sport and poker deserves to be recognized as an Olympic sport.

Yes it is legal even 1 local casino in my country have own poker and also freerolls but local poker site is not good like this poker sites which are not from my country because they have really bad tournaments and here there is much bigger and much better tourmanents because we play poker with people all over the world.

In my country (Brazil) poker is not illegal, but it's not regulated. We can play because almost all sites are based in another countries. Sports bets here are legal.

Poker is not. Although some poker rooms which have cc games are illegal (cause they dont have license) - luckily it does not stop from playing in these sites lol ...

Poker is legal
but if your are a drugs dealer you should pay taxes on your income...
So I guess Canada is not the right exemple

I live in Brazil, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in my country what is illegal is casino, casino games are considered illegal.
But I can't understand how online casino sites can act or they don't even have an authority investigating or banning the operation of these online casino sites in Brazil.

In Canada, right now, poker (or any online gambling), is technically illegal.

However, About 10-12 years ago, the Government at that time, said that this was not a high priority for them, and no prosecutions would be forthcoming. This all came as a result of the Provincial Lottery Corporations petitioning the Federal Government to make it illegal, as they were losing money to online players.

As a result, and because of the "no prosecution" decision, the provincial lottery corporations decided to go online also.

It has been the same ever since, but there have been rumblings recently, that there is something in the works, that will make provincial lottery corporations the only legal way for provincial citizens to play online.

So much for freedom of choice (if that happens).
