Poker online vs poker live

Live is easier than online in my opinion although I do find myself getting into more trouble when I play live. I tend to get bored quicker and can fall into the trap of limping and playing like everyone else. Plus, I have a hard time turning down free drinks so I add that into the mix and I can make mistakes. online poker is definitely tougher to become a winner at in the long run, both are beatable though!

Unfortunately, I have no experience playing live poker, so I have nothing to compare. But I can assume that there are many more people playing poker on the Internet, and this may mean that there is more competition!

If you are having any difficulty whatsoever remembering the playing style of your opponents online, just start taking quality notes (a feature most sites have) and consider getting some poker software. Most software offers free trials. I personally use Poker Tracker 4 and I cannot imagine playing without it.

Live is easier ....

Sadly there are tools players online use that shouldn't be used in the game of poker such as huds. Can you imagine sitting at a table and the live casino having a display board above a players head letting you know their fold percentages lol.

I just haven't played enough live poker to draw a conclusion. I live far away from a casino so I'm about on an every other year with live play, and then only for a very limited number of tournaments. I do enjoy Live play, though.

I play mostly online, but the live play is a lot more entertaining. I give away huge live tells, that is why I do not participate in a lot of live events.:icon_pale

I think its just a perception that one is easier than the other.

In truth each game variant has its obstacles and its advantages.

Live is more tells, sometimes, and online is volume, sometimes.

You can use this "formula" : live/ 100 = online. NL200 live is the same like NL2 online. NL1k live is the same like NL10 online.

For me live is harder.
I play live about once every two months in the same casino.
Since other players play there every week, I have a bit of a disadvantage.

cash games live should definitely be a lot easier for amateur poker players, barring any debilitating social anxiety disorders.

online cash games these days are just not that profitable anymore because they have too many daily multi-tabling grinders from europe, who play the microstakes as a job. they tend to be very TAG (tight and aggressive) and because of this style, they are hard to exploit for the casual player.

difficulty level-wise -
microstakes online (0.01/0.02, 0.02/0.04(5)) would roughly translate to 1/2, 2/5 live

just remember that when playing cash live, people don't go to the casino to fold, so make sure to size your bets larger than you would online. because online you're betting smaller to minimize rake, since you see a lot more hands per hour.

only thing I like more about online poker is that you get to see more hands. I prefer everything else about live.

Online and live are very different from each other. I find solid hands hold up much better in live games than on the internet. People seem to draw out more online.

While in online poker you can play in the bed, at your desk, from the living room of your house, phone, bathroom with a live game, things are different. Live poker in a casino is a strict dress code, the presence of noise and people around and other factors. There are people who like the atmosphere of a casino, and they sincerely enjoy it, while others feel themselves too constrained and would prefer to play a round lying on the sofa at home.

I think that live is more difficult than online.
Because we can actually see othre players like faces & tells.

Moreover, it takes time to play by shuffling times & more which reduce concentration..

Poker Online: Random seating, no control over the shuffle, prone to glitches and internet connection dropping out, no control over who plays.

Poker Offline: Dealer can be chosen, can repeat a duff shuffle, control over who plays, no internet issues.

( Some poker offline points are based on league play and not casino or tournament)

Both versions have their pros and cons, but I particularly prefer to play in person, we have more resources, such as seeing the opponents' expressions and the individual analyzes are better recorded, in the online certain tools lose a little.

I think that generally lowest stakes online players are better than lowest stakes live players. There are two main reasons for that. First is that online you can easily play even 10 times more hands per hour compared to live which makes it much faster to gain some experience. Second is that generally people playing online are more comfortable working with computers and searching for information in internet and today there is quite a lot free useful poker information which can help you to improve your game.

I agree both of thems have their plus and minus good points. In person feeling the intensity of the player detecting his transpiration because he or she has a GOOD hand lolll. I remember first time I had a begin with AA wondering if I should bluff or go right ALL-IN at start but sensing my hair getting arrose on my arms lolll. Ok go all in and being call with 66. The flop 6, 7, A, turn 5 river A. shazam .

Live poker is slower, online poker is more fun although you depend on a medium rare system that throws you cards on the turn a bit strange that that does not happen much live

I like playing online much more since I don't control my faces and gestures very well, haha. I have a hard time knowing how to control my nerves when I have a very good hand or when I don't have anything haha. On that side I see it better. But Live poker is very exciting. There you can see the rivals better to study them and try to understand their game.
