Poker with play money, another poker?

I tried to play poker with play money and the game is another.All raise,all-in play very aggressively.Did you notice it?

It's just no fun at all. But if you go to card rooms like ACR they have lots of freerolls that you can get in on and win short money. There is still a lot of heavy action with crappy cards but if you pick your spots well you can have fun.

You cant really ever get a legitimate game with play money. Nothing to hold the players accountable for their stupid play

play money is a joke for most people playing it. Freerolls are some what better, but you will still see people playing with no reguard. heck even in some micro buy in mtt's and cash games you will see this same type of play. The deeper you get in any of these games, the better the game play becomes most of the time.

there is no value in these games. not the serious behavior of many players on gaming chips.

This basically happens on the microlimits although idiots are enough everywhere that they have nowhere to put money in here with a hand of type 7 8 of the suit and climb into All-in .. To be honest, this is very annoying because they Do not give to play with less normal cards ...

I will express my opinion about the play money on PokerStars. In games at low limits (cache games, MTT, SNG), few poker players are serious about play money. If we consider high limits from 1 million play money and higher - here the game is already serious.
So, if you have a bankroll of play money from 50 million, then you can play quality poker.

The only benefit I can see for a player that wants to improve their game is this: you get to play loose/aggressive players for free!

Enjoy their games, because you won't see them playing for long, but you'll be here for the duration!

Play money is much different game as almost nobody cares to play properly because you can't loose anything. They are playing it like bingo or lottery. Even in freerolls where people are fighting for cents people are much more serious and even the lowest buyin normal game is another step up. Having the possibility to win real money (albeit just cents) makes people to play much more seriously.

Surprising to me,long ago it was loose-passive for every play money table. Playing on play money does not make up for real money play. You always play real money poker, if it does not go, read poker articles, watch videos. Only the basics have to be mastered.

Playing with play money can be fun, at low stakes most people don't know what they are doing so it's really easy to go deep in tournaments. At higher stakes, like a million chips buy-in (on PS) or more, you will start to see people who actually know a bit about poker. People who either only play for fun or people who aren't allowed to play for real money in their region.

Also, you can use play money to try some new things and learn to play other games than NLHE without risking real money

Nice one Lena, something we would all benefit from remembering, to improve at poker and as people. Know yourself, know your limits, and have the wherewithal to stick within those limits (or accept the consequences without QQing!).
