I just avoid playing with friends in the same Lobby or at least only play against friends at low buyins.

Hello! Of all the tips I picked just do not play at the same table! I think this is the best way! And many have expressed that this is a good choice.

To be honest, I don't see the difference with playing with other people. If the both of you know the 'rocking and rolling' of poker, there should not be a problem, in my opinion. The only time you shouldn't play for money with your friends, other then some cents, is when the other one just started playing poker. But even then, the friend must be smart enough not to do that, right? Putting some money in a game or even throwing it away, stays the responsibility of the one doing it, not? The only thing you can do as a friend, is explaining some dangers.

Well i basically agree, but i can imagine that playing with the "wrong" guys/friends for bigger amounts of money could end a bit weird.

If you're normal person and you have a family, friends and you play wisely - you can't lose all these things. For many people, Poker is bad game, because it's hazard and addiction. The best way is don't telling anybody about this hobby and missing conversations about it.

I don't agree to be honest. That way the addicted friends stay addicted silently. If you're really good friends, you should be able to talk about anything. And IMO to play poker you should have some kind of reasonable intelligence, so a talk about what can go wrong, mustn't be a problem.

You can't dictate how people will react. Are you friends with one another outside the table or did you meet him at the tables? Big difference. If at the tables I would be less worried about it because he should know the game he is playing and the caveats that go with it. If he s a friend that you go to the casino or poker room with, (well he should still know but...) you can weigh the value of your friendship against his unwillingness to understand that its just part of the game.

BTW I have a friend that no matter where we play, what game we play he seems to always come out ahead. the thought to take it out on him never crossed my mind. I don't usually believe in luck or superstition but the dude is sharp, and even when he isn't (or looks like he isn't trying) he seems to hit.

But then all of us used to play poker together and grew up with each other so a solid history - just my thoughts on what you said good luck sounds like he is an important friend to you..

not in a home game, but if both friends play live more than 4 times per week their paths will cross for sure and from my experience it usually affects the friendship later on. Dont forget that poker, among recreational players, is a high ego game.

I believe that if you play a lot at the same tables the confrontation will be inevitable so I think so.

I think not, because it's poker and you know what you're getting, but if the friendship is ruined, it is not in the cover cause, or it's not friendship...

I feel like a lot of people have written their thoughts in this thread, you need not to disturb the friendship of the game! One can step aside and give way!

It is not worth to play for the sake of friendship. In poker you have to play for fun or for profit. And your friend"likely"after a couple of unsuccessful hands - formed the opinion that he is not lucky while playing with you at the table and now he's on a subconscious level, makes mistakes which were not allowed before.

I do not see problem when playing little money, just for fun. But with higher stakes, I think playing at a poker club is better.

Yes, when a friend does not get the same results as you and does not have the patience to learn from the mistakes. He'll probably be angry.

I've played with good friends in public games and usually we always get caught up in targeting each other. Usually turns out bad for me but I know they target me because I second guess my hand versus Thier too much. All in all we are good friends and if we have the cash we will spot or sponsor another in other games.
