First of all, you need to establish your priorities for the week's activities. Then count how much time you are willing to spend on poker and of those, how much time is your free time. After thinking about doing this, without forgetting other activities necessary for daily life, I believe that the path is more or less.

I play every day. Some more others less. The most important thing is having fun, like working at home, I can reconcile tasks and play.

My favorite question.I play cash games 4-5 days per week 5-6 hours per day.I make 1-2 hour session than go outside or relax.

Good question which concerns everybody at some stage. It very much depends how you treat poker. Is it just one of your several hobbies, is it your main hobby or is it at professional level? For me poker is just one of my hobbies so i usually play for 1 to 3 hours after work approximately 2 or 3 days during business week. I like to play during weekends but unfortunately rarely have the time needed. Your strategy to play in the evenings during week and reserve sunday for poker looks good compromise to me.

Really appreciate your response and I hear you. I would like to take the game more serious but every time I begin to really go for it, it seems my other priorities get away from me. Looking for that proper balance so that I don't burn out or become obsessed in an unhealthy way is important to me. I suppose if I was doing it as a passion/hobby of mine but being sharp and experienced enough to be a very profitable player that would make me happy. I am always going to make my artwork my main line of work.

Lol man I wish I could stick to that. I think I feel out of practice somewhat though when I only play one day a week. Now I do only dedicate one full day a week to it and that's Saturday. The rest of the time's I tend to invest a few hours here and there. I need to spend more time studying strategy though then just playing.

Right on! This is something I need to be taking a lot more seriously. Studying the game and understanding situations and theories that apply to the game is something I feel like I need to dedicate at least an hour or two a day if nothing else. I also need to sure up the leaks in my game and learn how to be a far stronger post flop player so that the strongest players can't exploit really deep in the bigger buy in tourneys.

Deedgee I can relate to that. My problem is I get just as passionate and obsessive about poker as I do my artwork. It appeals to my competitive side more than anything else I do. Reminds me of the days back when I used to play basketball I guess and gives me something to try and master aside from my main line of work. I know what you mean though, sometimes the time gets away from me and I am kicking myself for losing so much time doing something that isn't necessarily always bringing out the best in me. And that is putting it kindly lol

See we are in the same boat lol. I work from home too so it makes it harder to not go right back to the poker tables online sometimes but I am working on trying to find that perfect balance where I can be as skilled of a poker player as I want to be as well as maintain the quality of life I like to have. My priorities can't be Poker at #1 or everything goes sideways

Hello. I play when I am in the right mindset. When I am, it's real; like putting on a football helmet and walking on the field. This occurs when I am relaxed, have no things to get done, it's ok with my wife and I am ready for 2 to 4 hours of time. I found sitting habitually and playing game after game is not a good way for me.

Fully relate. Think one of the most important things I am learning is knowing when to cut myself off from playing anymore tourneys for the night. Anytime I get too tired and go into zombie mode my bankroll begins to melt away and I’m no longer sharp enough to even analyze my game anymore. The times I have been able to cut myself off as soon as I know I’m mentally exhausted, my bankroll begins steadily increasing without the hole in the boat lol.

It's good if you play so well. You don't have to play every day. Play a few days a week, but a normal number of tournaments and be careful. You don't have to tie yourself to specific days of the week. If you are playing for real money, play anytime you like, within short periods of time.

4-5 hours, but it could be much less if I see it is not my day. If it is my day, it could be 7-8 hours.

Yes, tired is not good. Now if I could only get the cat to leave me alone when I am playing, it will be better. Lol. Good luck with your games, cardartist!
