Hey Derly,
You might receive different answers from different people and it'll be up to you to decide whether to move up the stakes or not. That would actually depend on few factors. The most important two of them in my opinion are "Your bankroll" and the "tougher competition" once you move up.
Instead of expanding on that (material available online), I'll try to answer your first question according to my humble experience :
Is it possible to make profit playing micro or low stakes ? YES. Is it easy though ? NO.
As a matter of fact, in order to make any decent money in those micros, you need the following (at least) :

- An enough bankroll for the stake you choose (look it up online).
- A carefully chosen competition (site and tables).
- As many tables as you can handle at a time (a must).
- A poker tracker (very helpful on and off the tables).
- A strict schedule (many hours a day).

I'm sorry if it looks that I'm trying to complicate the situation or be discouraging, but it's better to be honest. Making money has never been an easy task anyway, and doing it playing poker is no exception. I wish you the best of luck..

You have to exercise good bankroll management no matter the limits. As long as you don't step out of your limits you'll eventually be successful.

Good bankroll management is the key. Yes you can earn a few $ even at micro. If that is enough for you or not - you should decide.

The problem with the low levels, in my opinion, would be that their way of playing is very varied, you can follow the teachings of the Pro to the letter, but it does not always turn out as you want, in the long run yes, but I suppose that You would have to level up, I am following the advice of a Pro, I will go up according to the money I earn, in my case, I will level up when I get 300 entries for that level, since due to the variance, I could lose a lot .

Hello, I certainly have little experience, since I am still a newcomer, but it seems to me that profit can be made on any limits, the main thing is to observe bankroll management and of course be able to play on these limits! I just think that if you cannot beat microlimits, then I think there is no reason to rise to limits, since there is a completely different competition and experience is needed at a completely different level! Most of the reply's so far all say the same thing, It is possible, BUT! It take's hard work and dedication, just as anything in life is hard work.
Bankroll Management, Study and Practice are just a basic start to making money, but as Poker evolve's so should you, along with it. Most professional players still study every week just to stay on top of the game, Lex Veldhuis will stream on "Twitch" for 5 or 6 day's a week but always take a day off for study and I don't know how long he has been a Poker Professional.
If that is what you want from Poker, then go for it, anything is possible, but remember "Poker is a game that can take 5 minute's to learn, and a lifetime to Master!"

Part of my enjoyment is from playing the lower stakes. The grind is much harder, however it's not heavy on the bankroll and offers a lot of experience. Plus I can play a wider variety of games, leading to even more fun!

Make a profit? Yes. Make a living? No
I play low stakes poker and make about 4bb/100 which isn't horrible. But I look at it more as more capital gains than income. I have other investments, 401ks, savings accounts, etc that don't do as well. For fun I'll often compare my winnings to Bitcoin which I think I outperform. And it's fun. Don't worry about the hourly, just play and try to win.
