That's definately not true. Playing for play money can teach you alot of basic skills that are necessary to be a winning player. bankroll management, tilt control, putting in hands etc. It's a way to learn cash games without risking cash, something you can't do in freerolls as that obviously teaches you tournament play. Also if you get to a certain level people start to get quite serious, the top levels could be compared to 5 or 10nl i've heard.

Lol that's a sick amount, if you did manage to sell them at that rate that's $1600 lmfao. People are saying $5-10 so i'd hold out for more

. I'm sure one of the sites would give you a good deal bringing all that capital to them

There was a guy on 2p2 that made over $1800 by selling playchips on FT, so I would definitely say it's a good way to build a BR.

That's crazy I would not buy play money, when you can reload your chips for free or even win a shit load on your own. Or just deposit the minimum amount on a site and go from there. GL

I was in the Business on FTP about 4 years ago, just because i found myself with 23 million play chips and didnt want them, sold them all for $5 each...$5 per million, but beware it is illegal

wow...I didn't know people bought chips and that you were allowed to sell. About 5 years ago I was banned for a few days and warned not to dump chips on UB. I had close to 20 mil and if you have 20 mil at the end of the day they would take half...so I would just dump them...smiles ... to be able to sell them is great ..very interesting post...good luck at the tables

i had got to over 30 million play chips on full tilt and sold 20 million of them for 80$ and started a real money bankroll for free not a bad way to go plus only took about 3 weeks to get the 30 million lol also good fun playing the high limit play money as easier to win then real money and they do it because americans cant gamble real money online so lets say i bought 5 million for 60$ then won lets say 25 million id sell 20 million for 80$ making 20$ profit but still havent gambled real money online and with stakes like king of the hill 25/50k i think u would sit down with 20 mill or so 80$ worth and is another way to make money allthough i think play chip trading or selling is not allowed on fulltilt where as pokerstars cant stop it but harder to get a million on stars either way good luck with it

In addition to that you can also enter tournaments on full tilt poker where the buy is a consistent amount of play chips but the prize pool is a few dollars. I think they hold one tournament of this kind per day.

There's a site with the lion that will buy them going rate is $5 per million. They also sell them as well only for PS. Also plenty of people that rail high stakes play chip tables ask to purchase them as well.

Full tilt, $5 per mill. Although, usually you'll get some better rates from buyers that find you at play money tables. Remember this is illegal though, so be cautious. They usually come to you if you're playing at 10/20k. But, never pay them with chips up front, ever!

That surprises me also. I don't know why anyone would purchase play chips with real money. I sure wouldn't! Play chips are a waste of time and are mostly won from being a donkey. No one sits at a play chip table and plays the best they can. It's all pretty much won from being a donkey. Anyone who would purchase play chips with real money is making a horrible move, I sure wouldn't be one of those people. It just seems like a dumb thing to do considering its PLAY chips and not REAL money.
