To show?

Showing quads and str8 flushes feels like the right thing to do.. Other than that you can show a bluff if it makes you feel good I guess. Showing everything is giving too much information away. So overall I saw 50% of the time. I think it's good for your opponent to feel that if he folds he gets to see your cards. So in a way if you show people fold more often cause they'll see the bad/good news either way.

I believe that showing cards after a win or after a bluff is not categorical. With this display, you give your opponent and other players at the table free information about your style of play.

I also rarely show my cards.
In some exceptions I decide to show.
But I don't think it's smart who likes to show it all hands.
Many players have reading skills and will use this against their opponent.

I never show my hands. Don't see any advantage in doing so.

My wife is much more collegial when she plays online. She only ever plays one or two tables at a time. She'll have discussions in chat about what she or the villian had.

The only time I would say to show is to get someone on tilt.
I've never done it, but I see how that could work.

I do agree with you on that, I just don't know how to apply it on my game. But It is a nice strategy

Showing someone your cards can get into certain players heads and can give you a mental edge. On the other hand, better players could use that hand against you in the future. I'd just say, if you didn't pay to see them then you don't get to see them!

Phoenix Wright's answer was bang on. I agree with him 100%. I do not like showing bluffs because imo it is trying to make the other player look like a fool. Online ...not a big deal... but live....you will easily make enemies and the player(s) you do this to will not forget. You may think you are trying to set them up but that may backfire on you very easily. At micro tables or freerolls I will show my hole cards from the BB position when another player or player(s) go All In so that 1- they know I don't call with crap and 2 so that the player(s) that are all-in can see a couple more cards that would or could affect their odds before seeing the flop, turn and river flipped over.
