Sleep is important no matter if you're playing poker or not, I wish I was not a idiot when I was younger, I used to stay up till all hours playing video games then go to bed at like 7am. I have issues now like only getting 4/5 hours sleep and sometimes if I'm lucky a good 7 hours. Sleep is good for your mental health and also your heart, if you want to live to old age look after your heart!

Sleep is very important to me in general. Not only before tournaments, but in general before the start of every day. If I haven't slept well, I usually don't think straight and it directly affects my game and my results. Sometimes I even refuse to play in my favourite tournaments if I feel like I haven't had enough sleep.

If you do not sleep pre-game, how do you think you are going to perform during the game?
You will not quite be focused as you can be and that will lead you to not make the best decisions possible for the game.

Sleep is very important. First of all, because well-slept players play with more discipline and patience. In addition, players who have slept well are more enduring and therefore can play better. And yet, those who have not slept well run the risk of dozing off during the break and missing all the good things that could have been :)
