My SNG statistics

I used to play soley cash games but have now become addicted to SNGs and am doing quit well i believe. I am following a good stratgey in an article in "ALL IN". Over my last 8 SNGs

1st place = 3
2nd place = 1
3rd place = 1
missed the money = 3 (twice on the bubble with bad beats)

I am playing the $2.00 + .40. I want to move up to the $6 ones but want to build my bankroll with this level some more first. Any input overall?

That is a very small sample size. When I started playing SnG regularly, I had about 35-40 tournaments and my %ROI was almost 80%. I couldnt believe how easy it seemed and I was tempted to fly up limits, but luckily I decided I should atleast have a sample size of 100 before I made any assumptions. I was so happy, b/c right after this, the slump hit and brought me down to reality. Play many more tournaments b4 you can decide whether to move up or not.

If you are serious about playing SNG's, deposit some money on another site other than Absolute. Their rake on Sng's is horrendous. In the $6 games it's a dollar, where you can play $5 games at Full tilt or Pokerstars with a only a 50c rake. It may not seem like a lot but if you predominately focus on Sngs than over 400 or 500 games that extra 50c will add up.

I agree about the small sample size, its hard to see a trend when you don't have lots of data.

SnG's in my opinion are the way to go to build up your bankroll. Play tight and you should be in the money 75% of the time. 90's are preferred over the 45 ones as they pay out more places, hence a better chance to get your money back.

I would like to point out that at $2.00 + $0.40 you are paying 20% rake.
Normally you should expect to pay only 10%-- so you you can get to a $5+0.50 game you will be doing a lot better. 20% is a huge vig to fade.

Ya I started with fifty dollars and built my way up to about 150$ through 5.50 sng. then moved to ten dollars and hit 400 $ BR. After that I decided to buy in for 20+2. Ive won three straight and have a bank account a little over 600$. the keys to Sng's is that there are a lot of stupid players so play tight in the beginning and very aggressive as blinds are raised.

You are just on a heater, continue at this rate and you will be broke by the middle of the week
