Is it normal to feel very unmotivated and want to quit poker because you don't have the results you expect after so much time and effort?

Yes, it's normal to get very frustrated with not getting the expected results. The most important thing is to know the reason for the failure and not make the same mistakes again. Poker is strategy and patience, a lot of patience.

I am not particularly frustrated with spending some time without positive results, because I only play freerolls and as my game volume is very low, I will lose many times to variance, but this does not affect me, because I am not losing money, just time , and time I have to spare.

This is normal to happen, mainly when you are in need of money or in the beginning of evolution. What you should do to reduce this is: Do not create too much expectation when you have a lot of chips in a tournament, in the final stretch, always seek to make the best decisions within your knowledge, and always seek more knowledge, always seek to evolve. This makes your frustrations decrease over time, the more knowledge and experience you acquire, you will realize that you will not be so frustrated when you fall out of a tournament final stretch, or because of a bad phase you are not getting results, and it's also normal to get a little frustrated when you fall down a very important final stretch, or because you take a big bad beat, but this has to be momentary, we can't let it interfere with our future actions. I hope this helps, good luck.

You have a lot of reason for poker it takes a lot of patience, and like everything in life it is important to learn from mistakes

Well from your perspective, you take a low risk, so you don’t lose a lot of money. In my case that may be the problem, I will take into account your experiences. Thank you.

Poker is a lot like life, always will be frustrating if you don't evolve

However somethings you just can't control (like variance), so you should always analyze what you can control and if you're being the best player and making the best decisions

If after this analysis your conclusion is that you're being the best possible, then is just a matter of time

In order to achieve good results, you need skills and many years of experience. If you're not ready for 5-7 years of regular playing, learning and improving, then you're probably better off finding another hobby. Poker should first and foremost bring you pleasure. If you play only for money, you'd better just find a job.

This is key ^

My main goal is playing because I enjoy it. I've considered trying to make it work like a part-time income for myself but then some expectations & frustrations set in. I feel like that ship has already sailed (around 10years ago).

tldr: I suck at the pokerz but I still play.

Of course it’s normal to be disappointed or frustrated with something that isn’t meeting your goals and expectations. It’s key to remember that poker is very difficult to achieve our goals every time we play. Variance is a big part of the poker game. We are going to have hot and cold streaks. We can make all the correct decisions and still not have the outcome be what we were hoping for. This happens to the best players in the world and itIs to be expected. Keep grinding through and hopefully those big wins you are after will be there soon enough. Good luck.

Is very normal entering in a lose streak, specially if you are tilted or doing wrong stuff... and yes, there is the factor lucky too! Just try to think why are you losing too much, why you're not getting the expected results. If needed, stop playing for a while then come back when you feel renovated.

It's frustrating, but try to polish your game and if you think you're doing well, just wait.

Play live poker games at government regulated casinos.... You have no chance of being cheated by a stacked decks or a black hat.

I would recommend you only make sports bets and play for free online. Do this and I guarantee your ROI will improve.... that's if you put in the work and are good at sports betting. Not worth the effort I know your struggle I gave up a few times and came back to reach the conclusion that its rigged and people are cheating. Hince the reason I'll never make another deposit to play poker again... maybe to sports bet but not poker all these sites are the same bs.

Hello
Yes that is normal ! Poker is a game that requires a lot of patience. You make progress with every game, but you don't see that and you think you're playing badly because you don't win, but that's not just because of your game, it has many factors. A break helps immensely, at least that's how I do it, because if you're frustrated, you're just burning money and valuable life time. Poker should be fun for you, then success will also work.

The question is what is your main poker target? If it's not a win more than 1 000 000$ or be the best plyer around the world the answer is yes frustration is normal. There are a lot of better players than you, moreover there are many lucky fishes with shit hands who win all of them. But more important than frustration is the motivation to improve yourself. It always works

If I have gone from feeling depressed because I didn't get the results I was looking for, but it was in my moment. But luckily I'm maturing and seeing everything from another point.
