There is a gambling aspect to poker because of the need to make decisions with insufficient information. For some people there is a real danger of falling into degenerate gambling.

There is a sport aspect to poker. Those hwo prepare mentally and physically as an athlete does are well served by the effort.

There is an academic aspect to it if you are so inclined. There is basic math required for a decent understanding of the game. Those who are inclined to go deeper will benefit.

"Oh, I don't get math."

"OK. Go get it then at Khan Academy. It's online and free."

For me poker is an enjoyable competition that forces me to use my brain and control my emotions.

How you concieve this game, as sport, as gambling, Both,.. ???

Because of the constant coolers and moving, sometimes it seems that you are playing the lottery . But if you remove all this , then this game is more of a sports character and you need a lot of skills and patience to defeat all your opponents in poker tournaments:jd4::jd4:

Gemix has already made a small investment in a larger amount of money
Sports betting goes about day level.. Sports betting on a daily basis and fortunately no deficit tul
Poker is also every day and usually always pluses, if not much, but not minus

I don't think poker is a sport. It is part gambling and part skill. The same could be said about the stock market, or any other way to make a living.

It is easier to win in the stock market. Because technical analysis has a higher win percentage than poker cards.
However, both are similar, as it depends on the probability!

I know there are reasons to think of club poker as a sport. The player must have the appropriate training, firstly, you need to have good mathematical skills, as well as psychological endurance and preparation. It is for these reasons that many experts consider club poker to be appropriate for a sports game.

I think it depends on your attitude towards poker.

If you study the game and improve, learn to play all the different situations, and don't rely on luck to win, then it is a skill game, and it leans towards being a sport.

If on the other hand, you play poker blindly and treat it as purely luck based, then it is gambling.

I remember reading a nice article by David Sklansky years ago about the benefits of learning poker, and if you achieve what is described there, then poker becomes a sport.

Here the article:

For sure it is a mix of both: some people play poker for trophies (money is only a bonus for them), some ppl go broke playing it.

First, poker is played for money, and the only significant indicator of success is the amount of money won. In poker, you can win a lot and lose a lot – and this is a sign of gambling.

Secondly, poker is played in a casino, that is, where gambling is usually played.

These arguments are not so weak. In Russia, they tried to separate poker from casinos and create poker clubs (this happened in the late 2000s, when casinos were already banned, and poker had not yet become a gambling game in the terminology of Russian legislation). It failed – in part because the poker clubs were playing roulette and blackjack. And all world poker tournaments are still held in casinos, not in stadiums or in specialized clubs. The lack of recognition of poker as a competitive discipline as a full-fledged sport does not interfere with it. Streams are already gaining hundreds of thousands of viewers, and the unofficial World Poker Championship-the wsop-is becoming an increasingly global event, which brings together players from all over the world, the most famous of them are as recognizable stars as, for example, hockey players or basketball players.

I understand that the card game for me started as a hobby, a sporadic game, but, when analyzing the large proportion of players in the world, we look at the speeches on different sites and we have the idea of evolution and what today we could call a new world sport.

For me is a game, like chess, with more variance, more random and luck are involved than other mental games, but for sure the skill and experience plays a great role here
