Tournaments or Cash Games?

in cash sometimes can be play.but before you sit down at the table, I watch the game and if I do not like something I do not sit down. I also like to play spin and go. You can always win.

Depends on the player. Somebody better suits the tournament, with some cash game. In any case it differs a lot.

I beg to differ. There is a huge difference between cash games and tournaments. Especially in terms of gameplay. You will often find yourself sitting at a cash table, with players who have a very big bankroll and can afford their losses, or with very new ones who simply got $ signs in their eyes. The rules of a tournament no longer apply. Unless it's a tournament with re-buy/re-entry, once you're out... you're out, but cash games offer the possibility of endless play, more frequent bluffs, regardless of whether you loose or not. Those on a loosing streak, will call you with practically anything simply as a matter of gamble, in an attempt to replenish their lost cash. Cash games boil down to luck mostly, whereas tournaments... you gotta play by the rules if you want (a chance at) a piece of the pie. I've seen a lot of players lately, mostly from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden which played most of the time at live cash tables, and recently started with online poker. They mix the knowledge they gathered from cash games, with the online tournaments. Can't begin to count the suckouts i've had because of that. Needless to say, people who played mostly cash tables, have a lot more balls than those used mainly with tournaments, but in the end they rely more on luck than actual strategy.

The age old question... I completely agree with you. However, I think cash games are a great way to build a bankroll. You have control of what you play without worrying about being blinded out. With a tournament, you require some luck to win flips. While in a cash game. The majority of +EV players won’t ship in all their chips for a possible coin flip.

I like to play tournaments the most! Cash is really quick but you can lse as quick as you win.

Cash games give u the chance to go out wining,in tournaments,no mater how many chips you gain,you have to beat every one to get some money.

each person is different,and in order to understand where you would be better to play you have to understand it yourself,I personally think now in MTT better than in cash games,before it was the opposite, to play cash games you need to train very hard otherwise there is a risk of losing everything!

Tournaments

Cash is a different beast so I play tourneys more, though cash occasionally to build points faster.

I believe that to get a faster result the game for money is less time consuming, but if you want more consistency the games of tournaments will give you more opportunities for you to play more hands.

Hello and me. It's a matter of preference, which game you will choose, but it's a good thing for you to be a good player because you have both different cash games and tournament strategies. I personally prefer tournaments because winning big tournament can change your life, of course, chances are small, but such a profit can not get to the cash tables greetings

tournaments its, always a bigger profit, which you will invest only a certain amount. Which in Cash you can invest and loose 3 to 6 times your buy in, Its tough game you will need to spend all day playing depending which limit your playing if is low all days if is high then maybe 6 to 8 hours or even less depending how much you expect to win. if the buy in is 300 to 1000 maybe 1 hr. or 2 depending how fast you score big and quit.

I am learning like you are so take this from where it comes from, BOTH styles of play (I'm assuming Hold'em) are important to learn. I have played in tournaments where a losing player said he was more of a cash player and I played in cash games where a losing player said he was a tournament player. My opinion is that you should never say anything as an excuse, it's just bad form.

There are some great answers in this thread, some long and some succinct so look up who wrote what then study the tracking data bases that exist out there and try to understand why they said what they did.

What I am working towards is to learn games played for money and determine where I can exploit the weaknesses, both rules and players, so any form of game ..be that that the stock market, the shell game or any poker variation. Punto.:bandit:

You must first find what your gaming preference the cash game is best to make money already tournaments create an atmosphere of more focused gaming competition for a sport

But both can give good results even so I still see the cash game to make more attractive money to play more competitive but also financial results tournaments are more interesting

If you're new to playing freeroll tournaments, and if you learned how to play poker, cash games tournaments are very long and you don't have much strength and patience to get to the end, but you can stop at cash games any time.

I like both

I started playing cash game cause' I thought it was the funniest and it is quite fun but now I also play tournaments I guess Im better playing tournaments and I have a lot of fun playing them, basically I just play freerolls and I starting and I guess I do it good I just play two freerolls and I think I did really good so let's see what happen in the future and surely I keep playing cash game and I'll add some tournaments. Cash game and tournaments are really good and I'll improve my game to play with the best player and have much fun on the poker table.

It depends on the situation. But I think you need both if you want to gain experience with both styles of play. I have played a few cash games just to see what they were like. I think ultimately your goals in poker will determine which is best for you.

Cash requires far more skill and understanding of the game than tourneys, tourneys requires patients and understanding of ur stratagy. Tough call between the 2 personally I prefer cash but everyone has their own agenda

Tournament is usually better for me. I am trying to improve my cash game. There are good reasons why.

I’m currently on a very small bankroll. Seems to be floating between $50-100. That’s a lot of micro level entries. Or a handful of cash buyins. In both scenarios a couple bad days can really hurt.

Or one or two over my head ventures in a make or break fashion will, you guessed it, make or break me.

I think that every player has a special feeling-intuition.He will play the game that his intuition tells him.Everyone has their own game.If we were always winning, it wouldn't be a game..The best tactic to increase the bankroll is probably a game with breaks of 3-7 days. Conclusion: play one tournament a week and you will win.

I prefer tournaments because there can be more tournaments out here that the probability is less.
